Your own perfumer: how to make a home fragrance with your own hands and save from 500 rubles

If you make your own home fragrance instead of buying it in a store, you can save from 500 to 2000 rubles. But this is not its only advantage - by selecting the ingredients, you can be sure that a homemade diffuser will not cause harm to your health. In addition, it is possible to get a unique smell that is unlikely to be found on a shelf with bubbles from the mass market.

Home fragrance made from essential oils

Diffuser with essential oils to scent the air

If you want a natural air scent, the easiest way to make it is from essential oils.

However, remember that not all oils are harmless to health - some of them are contraindicated:

  • during pregnancy - rue, wormwood, rosemary;
  • for diseases of the heart and blood vessels - anise, cloves, basil;
  • for epilepsy - hyssop, sage, fennel;
  • for high blood pressure - sage, rosemary, thyme.

Children under 6 years of age are not recommended to come into contact with tea tree, geranium and clove oils. Always read the instructions carefully.

If you are making a scent for the room in which you work, use invigorating scents - cloves, cinnamon, basil. For the living room, aromas that awaken a good mood are suitable - jasmine, vanilla, grapefruit. Relaxing oils will be relevant in the bedroom - lavender, cypress, tangerine.

Making an aroma diffuser for your home with your own hands

To make 100 ml of flavoring you need:

  • essential oil - 20 drops;
  • base oil (coconut or unscented massage oil) - 90 ml;
  • sticks for diffuser - 3–5 pcs.;
  • tall glass vial.

The bottle must be glass, since essential oils destroy plastic.

Mix all the liquid ingredients in a bottle, insert the stick inside - and your homemade diffuser is ready. All you have to do is move the sticks upside down once every two weeks to maintain the intensity of the smell.

Home fragrances

How to make home fragrance from perfume?

To make a 100 ml flavor, take:

  • glycerin (sold in a pharmacy and costs about 10 rubles for 25 ml, you will need 3 of these bottles);
  • perfume (25 ml);
  • special sticks for diffuser;
  • tall glass vial.

When choosing perfume, pay attention to the fact that the cap with a spray bottle should be easily removed. If it is tightly clamped to the glass neck, you risk injuring your hands when removing it. You can, of course, “sip” the contents rather than cast them, but this will take a lot of time.

Spraying perfume

Also, the perfume must be of high quality. Do not buy “licensed” perfumes, “copies”, “imitations” and other fakes - no one is responsible for their quality, so the composition may contain toxic components that accumulate in the body and lead to diseases. For example, phthalates, which are often found in cheap perfumes, cause infertility.

Next, start mixing the ingredients:

  1. Pour glycerin into the prepared vial. You cannot replace glycerin with water, otherwise the flavor will go rancid.
  2. Add perfume to glycerin.
  3. Cap the bottle and shake.
  4. Remove the stopper, insert the sticks into the liquid and place the bottle on the table or nightstand. If necessary, adjust the intensity of the aroma - the more sticks, the stronger the perfume “sounds”, and vice versa.Turn the sticks over every 10–14 days.

This flavor will last for about 3 months.

Making an aromatic sachet with lavender

Aromatic sachets - how to make them yourself

In addition to diffusers with sticks, there are also dry fragrances. They are easy to make using petals and leaves of plants (chamomile, lemongrass, lavender, bergamot, mint, lemon balm, eucalyptus, myrtle and others). Dried orange and tangerine zest, pine needles, coffee seeds, cinnamon and vanilla sticks are also useful. Choose those ingredients whose smell you like and mix them in the desired proportion.

The finished dry mixture can be used in different ways:

  • Fill organza bags with it and hang them in the closet, at the head of the bed, near the desk.
  • Pour into beautiful vases and place in different places - in this case they will not only scent the air, but also serve as interior decoration.

To make a diffuser, do you need to use perfume or can you use eau de toilette or perfume water?
Can the oil base be replaced with plain water?

If you have animals in your home, do not leave them unattended near bowls of dry mixture. Some herbs can be dangerous for cats, dogs and birds, and pine needles, if the pet tries to swallow them, lead to injuries to the esophagus. When leaving home for a long period of time, remove the sticks from the diffuser and screw the lid on the bottle - this way the scent will not evaporate in vain.

    I love it when the apartment smells delicious. And it’s so nice when you make your own flavors. You can mix your favorite scents yourself and not worry that the flavor you buy will smell like chemicals.
