Preventing the appearance of shine on trousers and techniques that will help remove it
In order not to rack your brains over how to remove shine from trousers, you need to provide the item of clothing with appropriate care. Excessive wear or violation of the basic rules for ironing products can lead to the appearance of traces of gloss on the surface of the fabric.
It’s not difficult to get rid of it, but if the problem occurs too often, the process of wearing out the fibers will accelerate several times. Sooner or later, the item will no longer be repairable, even if its service life is only a few months.
Reasons for the appearance of gloss on the fabric of trousers and methods of preventing the phenomenon
If you wear it too actively, the most vulnerable areas of the product are the first to suffer: knees, inner and back thighs, buttocks. Given the increased mechanical impact, these areas must be treated with extreme caution. Improper ironing is characterized by the fact that the gloss is distributed evenly over the entire surface.
If in the first case you just need to reduce the frequency of use of the product, then in the second you will have to think about how to remove shine from the iron. This can be done in the following ways:
- Processing of clothing items can only be carried out through a layer of gauze or a piece of cotton fabric.
- Add a little vinegar (no more than half a teaspoon) to a container of water. This will not harm the fabric in any way, but the shine will stop appearing.
- If the texture of the material allows, then it is better to iron it from the wrong side.
In addition, the soleplate of the iron must be regularly cleaned and degreased, otherwise it will not be possible to prevent unpleasant consequences even with the help of barrier methods.
Removing signs of gloss from the surface of matter
To get rid of the unnatural shine of fabric in one approach, experienced housewives recommend the following techniques:
- Steaming. We hang the item of clothing in a straightened state and treat it with a steam cleaner or a powerful iron. Then brush off any remaining moisture with a soft brush and thoroughly dry the fabric in the fresh air.
Advice: In the case of delicate fabric, it is better to carry out general rather than local treatment. Place the product over a bowl of boiling water or hang it in a steamed bathroom. Otherwise, we strictly follow the instructions.
- Using vinegar. There are several ways to remove shine from trousers using vinegar. If the traces are insignificant, then the trousers are soaked in a very weak vinegar solution or wiped with a woolen cloth soaked in it. For more serious manifestations of the problem, you need to prepare a composition consisting of one part water and two parts vinegar. Pour the product into the iron and iron the trousers.
- Cleaning with laundry soap. We prepare a not very concentrated composition from a small amount of soap shavings; the product should completely dissolve. We moisten gauze in the liquid, through which we iron the areas where gloss is noticeable. The effectiveness of the approach will increase if the material is first slightly moistened with water and lemon juice or vinegar.
- Treatment of problem areas with ammonia. Helps quickly and without unnecessary movements to get rid of shine. For a liter of water, take two tablespoons of ammonia, soak a napkin in the liquid and go over the problem areas. Next, iron the material with a slightly warm iron through paper or fabric.
- Use of gasoline. In the most difficult cases, it is recommended to do the following. We moisten the woolen fabric in purified gasoline, saturate the problem areas with it (it is advisable to pad the pant leg with something). We wipe the resulting wet areas with a napkin soaked in a weak ammonia solution. Then we wash the trousers in the traditional way, dry them and iron them according to all the rules. Before ironing, previously shiny areas should be further treated with a soft clothes brush to restore the position of the fibers.
- Effective black tea. Allows you to get rid of unwanted marks on dark fabric without affecting its color. Prepare a strong decoction of the product, cool to a comfortable temperature. We soak the fabric in it and go over the shiny areas. Then, without washing, dry the product and iron it through gauze. If necessary, repeat the approach.
If the shine does not go away even after such manipulations, you can try treating the contaminated areas with pumice and only then re-apply one of the methods. But this is a last resort option, because it leads to thinning of the fibers. In some cases, it is better to go to a dry cleaner than to experiment on your own.
The gloss will definitely return after a while if you don’t improve the process of caring for your trousers. And each time it will be more and more difficult to eliminate it, and the positive result will no longer be as obvious as the first time.
