How to peel eggs in a couple of seconds - 3 and a half effective ways

As a child, when I was 4 years old, a revolution took place in my carefree life - my grandmother decided that it was time to make me a housewife. Under the pretext of “you’re a girl,” they started teaching me kitchen tricks. Oh, how I hated peeling eggs! The shell is removed in microscopic pieces, the sharp edges dig into my fingers... Looking at my torment, grandpa just smiled and showed how to do everything much faster and easier.

Shelling an egg

To ensure that eggs are cleaned well, there are two main life hacks:

  1. Before cooking, add a teaspoon of soda or a tablespoon of salt to the water.
  2. When the eggs are boiled, you need to catch them from the boiling water and place them in cold water for a couple of minutes.

Method 1 – blow!

The most spectacular and funniest option is what my grandfather showed me in the first place.

  1. The boiled egg should be cooled slightly, tapped on different sides and rolled on the table - it should be covered with a network of cracks.
  2. We pick out the shell on the “nose” so that we get a “bald spot” about a centimeter in diameter.
  3. On the “butt” we pick out the shell a little larger – 2–2.5 cm in diameter.
  4. We lightly hold the egg in our fist and blow into it with all our strength from the side of the nose, pressing our lips to the shell. Voila - the boiled egg pops out of its “shirt”.

Of course, this method is suitable for entertaining children, but few people want to use it as an everyday thing. Therefore, to your attention - Method 1.5: Simply tap and roll the egg to make it easier to peel.

Method 2 – shake!

The point is this: you need to ensure that moisture gets under it through the cracks in the shell - then everything unnecessary will easily separate from the surface of the protein.

You can act in different ways:

  • After cooking, drain the hot water, pour 1 cm of cold water into the bottom and swirl the pan in a circular motion so that the eggs beat against each other. Cracks form in the shell through which water can penetrate.
  • Place the egg in a wide glass with thick walls and pour some water into it. Cover the glass with your hand and shake it vigorously over the sink. After such simple manipulations, the broken shell can be easily removed, like a peel.

If you need to quickly peel a lot of eggs, you can use a two-liter jar with a screw cap instead of a glass.

Just don’t overdo it - if you shake the container too hard and for too long, not only the shell, but the entire contents may crumble!

Method 3 – pierce!

This is an option for those who are going to cook the freshest homemade eggs and know how poorly they peel if they have not been left for several days.

  1. We take pushpins-skewers (those with a sharp bent corner will not work). Very carefully we pierce the shell covering the air chamber with them - this is the area on the “butt” side.
  2. We send the eggs to cook as usual. Don't forget to add soda or salt to the water.
  3. Dip the finished eggs into cold water for a minute and clean each of them. The shell will come off easily, since moisture got inside through the hole made by the button during cooking.

After reviewing all the methods, the conclusion suggests itself: miracles do not happen, and therefore you need to think about easy cleaning of chicken eggs even before cooking. It is important to ensure that a little moisture accumulates between the shell shell and the protein - then the shell can be removed in a couple of seconds.
