Is it possible to run a washing machine if you need to wash polyamide?

Polyamide fabrics are classified as synthetic and are used for sewing a wide variety of clothes: underwear, sweaters, thermal underwear, jackets, trousers. The material is very durable and elastic, but at high temperatures it hardens and becomes brittle, so polyamide should be washed at 30–40 degrees.

How to properly wash polyamide clothes?

Polyamide is a rather capricious material and requires special care. If the product looks fragile, it is better to wash it by hand in warm water.

Casual clothes made from polyamide can be washed in a washing machine as follows:

  1. Empty the pockets, fasten the zippers and turn the product inside out. Repair any damage before washing.
  2. Select the "Delicate Wash", "Hand Wash" or "Gentle Synthetics" mode. Turn off spinning and drying.
  3. Use liquid or chlorine-free laundry detergent.
  4. After washing, shake the product to remove excess water, straighten it and hang it on a hanger to dry.
  5. Once dry, iron the fabric using the lowest iron setting (Silk setting).

Polyamide is strictly contraindicated:

  • high temperatures;
  • steam treatment;
  • centrifuge and electric drying.

Features of the material

Polyamide is a non-natural material. It was first identified as a separate type of fabric in the 60s. Synthetic fibers are obtained by processing oil, natural gas, and coal.Polyamide is widely used as an additive to other fabrics to give products strength and lightness.

Different methods of processing and weaving fibers make it possible to obtain the following types of polyamide fabrics:

  • elastane;
  • taslan;
  • nylon;
  • velsoft;
  • nylon.

Polyamide is characterized by the following properties:

  • It is easy to dye, so you can get fabric of any color.
  • Has high strength. A thread 2 human hairs thick can withstand a load of 1.5 kg.
  • Clothing made of polyamide is breathable, comfortable to wear, and pleasant to the touch. Elastic, light, does not wrinkle, fits your figure.
  • Polyamide is a water-repellent and quick-drying fabric. Not afraid of moisture, fungus, sea salt, and not susceptible to rotting.
  • It is not afraid of direct sunlight and does not lose color.

Washing different types of polyamide

In addition to the general rules for caring for polyamide fabrics, there are specific ones. Some types of polyamide are durable, others are easily deformed and require the most careful handling.

How to wash different types of polyamide?

  • Capron widely used for making socks, stockings, tights. Products are deformed from hot water, so it is correct to wash them at no more than 40 degrees. Taking into account that they can roll into the drum, it is better to resort to hand washing. You can wash the nylon in a machine, but then you should choose a gentle cycle and use a delicate wash bag.
  • Nylon – this is 100% polyamide, one of its very first types. Underwear, tights, and knitwear are made from it. Nylon threads are added to satin and cotton. Nylon is light, dense, dries quickly, pleasant to the touch, but stretches greatly when wet. Wash it on a quick cycle at 40 degrees and without spinning.Detergents should not contain chlorine. White nylon should be washed separately because it may take on a gray tint. Drying - only in a horizontal position.
  • Taslan is a modern polyamide fabric with a non-standard fiber weaving structure and a porous waterproof coating on the inside. It is used for sewing casual clothes for adults. A taslan jacket can be washed in a washing machine at 40 degrees with a regular spin cycle. Dry cleaning, bleaching and solvent stain removal are prohibited.
  • Velsoft It has a fleecy structure, but pellets do not form on it. It is used to make not only outerwear, but also towels and blankets. Velsoft polyamide can be washed in a washing machine at 30–40 degrees and spin at 400 rpm. The recommended mode is “Gentle washing of synthetics”. After washing, the products are not twisted and dried naturally in a straightened form. Ironing is prohibited.
  • Elastane perfectly restores its shape when stretched more than 6 times. He is not afraid of the sun's rays, stains of grease and sweat. To wash elastane, use the “Synthetic” mode, 30–40 degrees, spin 500 rpm.

Label for items made of 100% polyamide

100% polyamide is quite rare. More often, manufacturers use it as an additive to increase the strength and reduce creasing of the finished product. When other additives are included, combined materials and fillers are used (in a jacket), the rules for caring for clothing change. Therefore, when washing, it is correct to rely on the information on the label of a particular product.

Polyamide products can be washed in a washing machine. It is necessary to use gentle modes and detergents without chlorine.If proper care is followed, polyamide fabrics last a long time, do not lose color, do not stretch, and look like new.
