How to remove a blood stain from jeans in no time?

It is difficult to remove blood from jeans, but it is possible. This type of pollution is considered not only the most unpleasant, but also difficult to remove. Previously, things stained with blood were mercilessly thrown away. Mothers and grandmothers washed clothes only in hot water or even boiled them. But for blood stains this is absolutely unacceptable. Only cold water should be used. And the sooner the better.

Washing jeans in cold water

Rinse the stain with cold water

Washing in cold water is the simplest and most effective solution. How to remove traces of blood:

  1. Place the jeans under running water and lightly scrub the stains. Gradually the blood will recede and be washed away, leaving no trace.
  2. To remove dried blood, the denim should be soaked in a basin. Fill a large container with cold water and leave the item to soak for 2-3 hours. Then, without removing it from the water, go over the stained areas with a brush.
  3. After removing the stains, the jeans can be washed as usual - in a washing machine with the addition of powder.

The denim material is quite dense. Blood penetrates the weave of the threads and permeates the entire thickness of the fabric. Therefore, you need to wash it not only from the outside, but also from the inside. It is recommended to use a soft brush.

Washing jeans with laundry soap

Use laundry soap

Brown laundry soap is also used to remove blood stains. The bar contains a large amount of alkali. It destroys the protein that blood primarily consists of.

How to clean jeans correctly:

  1. Wet the item with cold water.
  2. Rub the stain with laundry soap.
  3. Lather it with a brush.
  4. After 10-15 minutes, rinse the jeans in cold water.

Usually these measures are enough to make your pants perfectly clean.

Only dried blood is difficult to remove from the fabric. When exposed to heat and some other factors, the protein coagulates. After washing, reddened stains remain. They are often even confused with rust. And if the blood was with pus, the traces may be greenish or gray.

Removing blood stains from jeans

What absolutely cannot be done?

Cold water is that simple. Why then is blood considered a difficult-to-remove contaminant? The thing is that many are not familiar with this rule. One mistake is enough for your jeans to be irreparably damaged.

It is strictly forbidden to:

  1. Wash jeans in hot and warm water. We are talking not only about hand washing, but also about machine washing. At 42 degrees, the blood already begins to clot, firmly eating into the tissue. It feels like 40 degrees is barely warm water. Do not open the hot tap at all, and choose a machine wash at 30 degrees to be sure to avoid mistakes.
  2. Rub the stain. When blood gets on jeans, many people instinctively try to wipe the stain away. There is no need to do this. Trying to remove blood “dry” or using a damp cloth, you only increase the area of contamination. It is better not to touch the stain at all until you have had the opportunity to remove and thoroughly wash your pants with water.
  3. Use bleach. Bleach and bleach will remove anything. However, they corrode not only dirt, but also fabric fibers. In the best case, the fabric will lighten in place of the blood stains, and in the worst case, a hole will appear.
  4. Use peroxide, salt, soda, ammonia without a preliminary test. These products, known to many, have whitening properties. Together with the blood, they can wash the dye off your jeans. Therefore, you must first apply the composition to an inconspicuous place. If the fabric has not faded, you can safely use it.

Traces of blood never disappear without a trace. This is known to all investigators. Even if the product looks perfectly clean on the outside, after decades it will be easy to determine that blood has come into contact with it. Once you shine it with ultraviolet light, the stains will be easily revealed. This effect is provided by hemoglobin iron and porphyrin rings contained in human blood.

Removing old stains

The fresher the stain, the easier it is to remove. Over time, dirt penetrates deep into the fibers, eats away, and becomes extremely difficult to remove. But it's always worth a try. To eliminate old stains, including dried blood and blood from menstruation, there are many special remedies and folk recipes.

Oxygen stain removers

Specialty chemistry

There are different methods to combat blood stains on jeans. There are household chemicals that work well with them.

For many, these funds will be a godsend:

  • Oxygen stain removers: Vanish, Sarma Active, Frau Schmidt, Ecover, Amway Pre Wash, Udalix Ultra. This is a relatively new generation of stain removers. They do not contain chlorine, but at the same time deeply clean the fabric. Oxygen molecules act carefully, preserving the color and structure of the fibers.
  • Laundry capsules: Persil Color Duo Capsules, Tide PODS 3-in-1, Ariel Pods All in 1. They contain not only detergents, but also stain removers that are effective against blood stains and other difficult types of stains.
  • Special stain remover "Dr. Beckmann Expert: blood and protein stains."Thanks to the active enzyme formula, the product easily copes with bloody marks on jeans and other clothes.

In fact, many modern laundry detergents contain enzymes that break down blood. Choose an expensive detergent. Please note that the powder works in cold water. After a few washes, the stains will disappear.

Use household chemicals according to the instructions on the package.

If the blood is deeply embedded in your jeans, do not despair. Take the product to a sewing studio. There they will sew up the defect with threads matching the color of the fabric. You can also cover the stain at home by gluing a thermal adhesive onto it with an iron. You can also always cut damaged jeans, turning them into shorts, tear them beautifully, or make an interesting decor from lace.

Denim is highly valued for its durability. However, it is susceptible to contamination. It is more difficult to remove any stains from jeans than from thin cotton or synthetic trousers. But if you follow the rules exactly and do not use questionable recipes, you can wash the blood off the product. First, wash the item in cold water, with or without laundry soap. And only then, if the proven method did not help, use special compounds and products. Good luck!
