What and how can you remove stickers from the refrigerator in a few seconds?
Very often, the surface of new refrigerators is “decorated” with advertising or informational stickers from the manufacturer, which do not at all match the interior of the kitchen, and they have to be removed at home.
You can cope with the situation, but if you want a really good result, you will have to try, otherwise there will be gray marks, scraps of paper or glue. There are several methods of action that will help clean the door without damaging the enamel of the refrigerator or changing its original shade.
Products that can be used to remove the most stubborn stickers
The proposed methods are equally effective when removing a fresh sticker or remnants of an old sticker. If you initially resort to one of them, the glue will come off the surface along with the paper base, and you won’t have to think about how to remove the sticky gray spots later.
- Hot air. This approach is even practiced in hardware stores. To create the desired degree of heating, use a regular hairdryer. First, dilute a little neutral detergent in warm water and apply this product to the sticker, thoroughly wetting the material. Next, take a hairdryer, without waiting for the mixture to dry, and begin heating it. After a couple of minutes, we try to remove the paper base and glue using a damp cloth or soft sponge. The manipulation can be repeated several times.
Tip: Do not use such “proven” tools as metal sponges, toothbrushes or nylon brushes and sandpaper during the cleaning process. They will undoubtedly help remove all signs of contamination, but will certainly damage the enamel.
- Eraser. First, thoroughly moisten the surface with warm water and a mild detergent diluted in it. Then we wait until it is completely dry and rub it off with a regular school eraser (soft side). We work carefully, trying to remove all the glue the first time, so as not to have to deal with stains on the refrigerator door later. Particularly persistent formations can be pre-moistened not with water, but with nail polish remover, then the paper pulp will come off even faster.
- Preparations for removing tape and marker. These are professional cleaning products that remove any stickers without any problems. The only inconvenience is that they are sold in rather large bottles and are consumed rather slowly. You should resort to this approach only if other methods do not help.
- Vegetable oil. A very effective and at the same time gentle way to clean the refrigerator door. We moisten a cotton pad with the composition, which we apply to the surface of the sticker and wait a couple of minutes. After the specified time, the label should come off without any problems, leaving no glue behind on the surface. Wash off any traces of oil with warm water and some dishwashing detergent.
- "Dry" method. If the sticker is still fresh, just peel it off. They usually come off without problems, leaving behind a glue trail. Then we take the same label or tape, stick it to the problem areas and tear it off sharply. In cases where we have already wet the paper, but nothing happened, we wait until the area dries and continue to treat it with tape.
Practice shows that the above approaches work flawlessly. You just need to be a little patient and carefully work the surface, without leaving even the slightest trace of glue.
Approaches to help remove adhesive residue from the surface
Some stickers come off the smooth surface of the refrigerator door without any problems, and housewives quickly forget about it. However, after some time, gray marks begin to form in these areas. This happens because dust settles on the remaining colorless glue. Removing such formations is sometimes even more difficult than entire stickers. The following approaches may help:
- Eraser. In this case, you don’t need to wet anything, just carefully and methodically wipe off all traces of dirt from the surface of the refrigerator. At first the glue will not yield, but then it will begin to roll into balls that can be removed manually.
- Nail polish remover or acetone. We carefully moisten the sticker marks with the selected composition so that the mass becomes soaked. After this, we immediately begin to wipe off the product with a soft cloth. If necessary, apply a little more liquid and work until everything comes off. With this approach, you don’t have to worry about the integrity of the enamel. The aggressive component will only remove the glue.
- Special sprays. They are created on the basis of solvents that can easily cope with many contaminants. Considering the fact that the active composition is sprayed and not poured, the product does not lose its qualities and can be stored for a long time. It is generally beneficial to have on the farm.
- Alcohol/vinegar/antistatic. We apply the selected product to the place from which we managed to remove the sticker. You can immediately start rubbing the surface or wait a few minutes until the mass acts on the glue and dissolves it.
- Cleaner for bitumen stains. Although the liquid has a rather pungent odor, it helps remove all signs of contamination from the surface of the door in just a few seconds, without damaging the enamel.
For the cleaning process, it is recommended to organize access of fresh air into the room, because... Many of the products listed have a strong odor and can cause significant discomfort.
All washed away. Nail polish remover helped. Just great. Thank you!!!
Nothing helped except an eraser! Thank you!!!
04/29/2020 I washed the adhesive layer very quickly and easily with sunflower oil. Thank you very much for the advice.
Surprisingly, I wiped everything off with an eraser. It’s a pity I didn’t know this method before, I suffered so many times, rubbing off various stickers. But it turned out to be so simple.
