What does an iron with a dot on the label mean: explanation and care recommendations
To maintain the beautiful appearance of clothing, it is necessary to properly care for it and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations indicated on the label. If the tag shows an iron with one dot, then the product must be ironed at a minimum heating temperature so as not to spoil the thin fabric.
Recommendations
When ironing clothes made of thin materials (nylon, acrylic, acetate and others) with an iron symbol with one dot on the label, the manufacturer recommends using a low temperature setting. The item must be turned inside out and a piece of fabric placed on top so that when it comes into contact with the soleplate of the iron, the fabric does not melt.
Tip: if you cut off a tag and don't know at what temperature you should iron your clothes, start with the lowest degree and look at the result. If creases do not disappear, increase the temperature.
What does it look like
An icon that allows you to iron textiles is depicted on the tag in the form of an iron, and the number of dots indicates the recommended heating temperature. The iron sign with 1 dot warns that the item must be ironed at a low temperature of up to +110⁰С.
What not to do
What can you do
- ironing at low temperature through gauze;
- steaming in the absence of a prohibitory sign (a cross at the base of the iron).
If you follow these tips, your clothes will last for many years and will delight you with rich color and quality.
