What does the 40 degree icon mean (40 degree basin): explanation and care recommendations

The 40 degree wash icon on the label explains the rules for caring for the textile product. The image of a basin indicates the washing mode (manual, machine). By numbers and dots you can find out the water temperature at which this type of fabric can be washed.

Recommendations

Graphic icons on the tag sewn on the reverse side of the product provide brief care instructions. The first is always a basin with additional symbols that explain all the washing conditions.

From them you can find out:

• maximum water temperature (dots, numbers);
• permissible process rigidity.

Comment! If the clothing has a label with a picture of a basin and a hand in it, then this item cannot be put in the washing machine.

The 40 degree icon indicates items made of viscose, synthetics, polyester, and colored cotton. He recommends using warm water and neutral washing powders. Products with a pH of 6.0−8.0 rinse well, do not harm the appearance of the product and do not cause skin irritation.

What does it look like

The sign allowing machine washing at 40° may look different, the image depends on the manufacturer. One option is a pelvis with two points. The second is the same, but with the temperature indicated (40°). The third - two basins. One says “40°” and the other says “..”.

The symbols mean that a skirt or blouse may lose its presentation (fading, shrinking) if washed in hot water (at t > 40°). You cannot violate the manufacturer's recommendations.

What can you do

If the temperature conditions are maintained, the item can be washed, rinsed and hand-wrung. Or, without fear of deformation or shedding, send clothes, colored underwear and other textile products to the machine.
