This problem will not arise if you know what can be made from leftover linoleum. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to limit yourself to decorative crafts only.

If desired, even those who do not have any outstanding skills in working with their own hands have the opportunity to build something really useful for their home. There are many options, you just need to choose the right one and think about how to implement it correctly.

Practical and functional solutions

When figuring out what to make from leftover linoleum, you need to rely on its physical and chemical properties. So, the canvas, which is covered with a layer of oil combined with various resins and fillers, is often used at home in one of the following ways:

• Floor covering. It is only at first glance that this does not seem original. When it comes down to it and you have to assemble the floor mosaic literally piece by piece, the result is more than impressive. The remains of different linoleum from rooms and corridors can be folded into a fancy pattern on the balcony or kitchen. In addition to the aesthetic appearance, this approach will ensure ease of cleaning.

• Household needs. Scraps of material make excellent waterproofing gaskets.They are used when laying roofs, as soft clamps when driving nails.
• Few people know that you can make high-quality glue from a small amount of linoleum leftover. Simply put the most crushed pieces into a tin can and fill them with acetone. The mass must be infused for 13-15 hours, after which it is used for its intended purpose. The finished product, which is not inferior in its characteristics to the well-known Moment glue, will glue wood, metal, ceramics, and porcelain without any problems.

Tip: Some craftsmen add pure chalk to homemade linoleum glue (1 part glue to 2 parts crushed product). The resulting mixture can be used as putty to cover cracks and crevices. And if you combine the components in equal proportions, you get a mastic with which to lay the tiles.

• It is recommended to decorate pipes using large pieces of material. In almost any apartment you can find a pipe, which spoils the entire decor with its appearance. If you carefully wrap it with linoleum, this will provide the element not only with an aesthetic appearance, but also with additional protection from external influences. The material can be pre-stitched so that its surface is decorated with an original pattern. And such crafts are planted on the most ordinary paste.

It is not necessary to begin implementing plans immediately after collecting the remains of linoleum. They can be folded separately and you can easily choose the best option for use on the farm.

Original decorative crafts

If, after assessing the situation, it turns out that the remaining material is not particularly needed on the farm, or there is a catastrophically small amount of it, it is worth considering the option of using the product in one of the following ways:

• Making crafts. It all depends on imagination and creative talents. Some craftsmen use a small piece of linoleum to make original covers for notebooks, slippers or even handbags. As a last resort, you can limit yourself to making stands for hot dishes.

• Laying out the mosaic. If patience allows, then from pieces of linoleum you can create real masterpieces that decorate the floors and walls in the bathroom, kitchen, and hallway.

• Decoration. Pieces of material are often used to cover the surfaces of tables, stools, and even cabinets. This allows you not only to increase the functionality of the fixtures, but also to combine decorative items in one room with a common idea.

In the end, you can do nothing at all with the remains, but leave them just in case to restore the flooring in problem areas. Linoleum wears out quite quickly at the joints of sections and at the edges, so it needs regular decorative correction.
