What and how can you wash the removable and non-removable lid of a multicooker?
Every owner of this convenient and multifunctional cooking device should know how to clean the lid of a multicooker. After all, even with high-quality and proper care of its bowl, after a while the prepared food may develop unpleasant or unnecessary notes.
In most cases, the reason for this development of events is precisely ignoring the fact that the inside of the lid also needs to be washed regularly. Don’t get upset ahead of time; there are several approaches to processing a functional surface that can normalize everything.
What to do if the cover is removed?
It’s easiest for owners of those models that have a removable cover. In this case, it is enough to do the following:
- Take a neutral dishwashing gel, a soft cloth, and warm (but not hot) water.
- We dilute the gel in water, and carefully rinse the problem surface with the resulting solution, trying not to touch the fastening area and rubber borders. If necessary, you can leave the mixture on the lid for a few minutes. It is strictly forbidden to soak the product, as this may damage its fastening system.
Tip: The internal parts of the device are usually made of a material that can be easily washed from any type of dirt, even grease. You just need to act immediately after using the device. If every time after cooking you wash not only the bowl of the product, but also carefully wipe the inner surface of the lid, there will not even be a need for targeted cleaning.
- After achieving the desired result, wash off the soap suds from the surface. It is not recommended to apply pure gel to the material; it is then very difficult to completely remove it!
- Gently wipe the rubber inserts with a slightly damp cloth without detergent. Dry the part with a towel and put it back on the washed and dried multicooker.
It is imperative to ensure that no liquid has entered the fastening system. Otherwise, this will lead to the accumulation of bacteria in this area and even rapid deterioration of the material. If this is allowed, then you will have to purchase a new device, because... It won't be much cheaper to restore the old one.
What to do with a non-removable lid?
To clean a model with a stationary lid, you will have to suffer a little. You can do this in one of the following ways:
- With steam bath. Pour a glass of water into the bottom of the device and squeeze a little fresh lemon juice into the liquid. Close the lid and start the unit for 15 minutes using the “Steam” mode. The cover can now be cleaned. To do this, it is enough to use dishwashing gel, but in order not to spoil the device, its body will have to be wrapped in cellophane and turned so that only the lid is cleaned. Be sure to wash off the foam from the surface and dry the treated areas as much as possible with a towel.
- Using laundry soap. For a more aggressive approach, we need to soap a damp cloth with laundry soap and carefully treat the lid, trying not to touch the other parts. After we have managed to get rid of the grease, take a clean rag, moisten it and wash off the foam. Although this approach gives an optimal result, it has its drawback - it will not be so easy to get rid of the smell of laundry soap.
In cases of extreme contamination, the above approaches can be combined. Even the oldest dirt cannot resist this.
If cleaning the lid has been neglected for a long time, then most likely grease will accumulate behind the rubber inserts. To remove it, you can use toothpicks or cotton swabs. You just need to act carefully so that the sides also fit tightly to the surface after processing.
Steaming with a solution of citric acid perfectly cleans the lid of the multicooker. Sometimes it is even enough to wipe the lid with a clean napkin after this.
