Is it possible to wash the multicooker completely under the tap?
Household appliances in which food is prepared are subject to contamination - grease and fumes settle on them, and food residues stick to them. Is it possible to wash the entire multicooker under the tap? The idea is tempting at first glance, because cleaning with a damp cloth and rags is a rather labor-intensive and time-consuming process. The device must be reliably protected from moisture: if you can cook soup in it, does that mean you can wash it under the tap? Many housewives think so, and they are wrong. Water getting inside the housing can cause damage!
Why not?
There is a heating element hidden inside the multicooker. Thanks to it, the device heats up to the desired temperature. And the entire core is literally dotted with microcircuits that provide the choice of cooking program. The display is an electronic panel with many contacts.
Water getting under the multicooker body can cause:
- damage to contacts;
- short circuit.
The electrical part is only conditionally protected from moisture. There is a removable bowl for water and food. Neither liquids nor solids should get into the remaining parts of the multicooker. The device cannot be washed with water, dipped or filled. It's the same as washing a TV, hair dryer, smartphone.
If the multicooker has already been under the tap, you should turn it upside down as soon as possible and allow the water to drain. It should dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. Then there is a chance that after 6–8 hours the device will work again.
How to properly wash a multicooker?
To clean the appliance, you need to wait until it cools down after cooking. Be sure to unplug it! Next you need to disassemble the multicooker: remove the bowl, disconnect the lid, remove the steam valve.
- The bowl can be washed under the tap using liquid detergents and a soft sponge. It is important not to use abrasives if the bowl has a Teflon coating. Pour warm water and add dish detergent, lather the solution and leave for 20 minutes. After this, the thicket can be easily washed off from grease and burnt food.
- Rinse the steam valve under running water. If the valve is clogged, food will escape.
- To remove the multicooker lid, read the instructions. Wash the lid under the tap using dishwashing detergent. If grease and stains remain, use a cleaner or baking soda. To remove unpleasant odors, wipe the surface with 9% vinegar.
- To clean the area under the bowl, use a sponge and stovetop cleaner. First, use a damp cloth to remove the crumbs. Then apply the carbon remover for 3-5 minutes. Wipe the bottom with a clean, damp cloth and dry with a paper towel.
- Wash the outer part with a damp cloth or napkin. The use of cleaning agents and detergents is permitted.
- Wait until the device is completely dry before plugging it back in.
If the multicooker is very dirty, then you should disconnect the electronic “filling” from the body. After this, the plastic parts can be safely soaked, treated with chemicals, and washed under the tap.
A multicooker, like any other electrical appliance, cannot be completely washed under the tap. This will damage the contacts.And if you immediately plug it in after washing, a short circuit will occur. Clean the assistant exclusively with damp cloths and napkins, and you can only wash the removable bowl, valve and lid under running water. The inside must be wiped immediately after each cooking. Then the multicooker will remain clean for a long time and will not require radical measures!
