I show you why I cut up old (torn) rubber gloves

A smart housewife will not throw anything away just like that. I cut old rubber gloves into pieces and use them for household needs.

Stoppers for hangers

As soon as the gloves start to leak, I cut them into pieces:

Cutting an old household glove

I cut the “sleeve” into strips and pull them onto hangers. They make excellent limiters. T-shirts, blouses with thin straps, light dresses and other clothes don't slide off, and I no longer worry about a mess in my closet.

Anti-slip effect

A cutting board sliding on the table can cause injury. One day I was cutting fish and cut myself badly because the board suddenly moved to the side. After that I was puzzled by security:

  1. I cut 2 rubber bands from the glove.
  2. I secured rubber bands along the edges of the cutting board.

All! Now the board lies motionless on the table and does not move to the side.

Fixation

Elastic bands obtained from gloves can always be used in the household. They can record:

  • gauze on a jar or pan;
  • roll of baking paper;
  • bobbins with satin ribbons;
  • rolled towels, clothes;
  • open packages of cereals;
  • lid on the pan for transportation.

Secure an open bag of crackers with an elastic band
The clamps are very durable. They do not tear, crack or dry out over time.

Rescue from oil leaks

To prevent greasy streaks on a bottle of vegetable oil, I wrap a small rectangle of paper napkin around the neck. The paper absorbs accidentally spilled drops of oil. As a result, the bottle remains clean. To ensure that the napkin stays well on the neck, I secure it with the same rubber band from the gloves.

Slingshot from the 90s

Recently my husband saw me cutting up another pair of gloves. The sight of the “fingers” brought his thoughts back to his childhood, and he decided to show his son how he had fun in his youth. The boys at that time loved to shoot peas and elderberries. Along with the usual slingshots, the following devices were popular:

Crossbow from a fingertip and bottle neck

They were called crossbows, rowan arrows, etc. This thing is done very simply:

  1. Cut off the top of the bottle.
  2. We burn a hole in the lid with a hot awl (knitting needle), or rather remove the entire top.
  3. Pull the “finger” onto the neck.
  4. Screw the lid to secure it.

To shoot, you need to throw a bullet or pea inside, pull back the rubber tip and quickly release it.

Protection for cabinet doors

Our cat is also a big fan of climbing into cabinets. He opens the doors with his paw, empties the shelf and makes a rookery for himself. No matter how much I scolded him or punished him, I couldn’t eradicate the bad habit. In the end I had to hang up the protection:

Rubber on cabinet doors

We hook the rubber band from the gloves onto the locker handles in a figure eight pattern.

And no cat will pass. Protection from children also helps a lot.

Door slam protection

If you are worried that your child will accidentally lock himself in the room, you can use a rubber band to block the door lock. I did this when my son was very little.

  1. We hook the rubber band from the gloves to the handle.
  2. Let's cross.
  3. We pull it onto the door handle from the back side.

Rubber band against door slamming
It is important to ensure that the lock tongue goes inside. Then the door will definitely not slam shut.

Unscrew the tight lid

The “palm” of a rubber glove is convenient to use for opening “twist” cans. It often happens that the lid is very tight and does not want to give in, no matter how hard it is twisted. But once you put part of the glove on top - voila! The jar is open. With a rubber gasket, the hand stops sliding, and the lid unscrews with a minimum of effort.

Remove paint from brush

I use rubber tapes from gloves when painting outbuildings in the country:

  1. Open a jar of paint.
  2. We stretch the elastic band over the jar.
  3. Dip the brush into the paint.
  4. We remove the excess on a strip of elastic.

Rubber band for removing excess paint from brushes
As a result, the work goes quickly. The paint does not flow along the fence, does not drip, and the edges of the can remain clean. Just don't try to pull the elastic band back. Otherwise, splashes will fly, you will stain both yourself and everything around you.

Remove the screw with the damaged head

Part of the glove is useful for turning out a screw with broken slots. To prevent the tool from slipping, place a rubber gasket on the head. Now you can easily accomplish your plans.

Unscrewing a screw using a piece of rubber glove

This is how I use old rubber gloves. Of course, if they are completely worn out, covered with plaque, I, without a twinge of conscience, send the products to the trash bin. But more often, a hole simply appears on the surface, and the gloves begin to leak. They look absolutely normal, brand new, but you can no longer wash dishes in them. But you can cut rubber bands - they will always come in handy around the house.

What do you do with old housekeeping gloves?
  1. Olga

Thanks for the article, I'm off to cut some gloves.

    • Faith

Thank you for the article. I liked it very much. I'll take note

    • Olga

Super! I used these gloves to wash the toilet and now use rubber bands in the kitchen, which is very hygienic.

    • Marina

Olga, no one is forcing you to use the same gloves you used to clean the toilet. It seems to me that this has not occurred to anyone except you and will not occur. I hope you don’t wash dishes in them? If not, then here are some dish gloves and you can use them for slicing.

    • Faith

Don’t flatter yourself, it’s all in vain, throw it away. I change it once a month, it breaks. I dry it and wash it. But no one has canceled the microflora. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Everything is rubbish.

  2. Love

Yes, I apply all the tips. It's great that you brought them together. I used regular stationery erasers for this. But I also cut gloves. The rubber in them is denser than in stationery erasers. I cut a wider strip for boxes with shoes and all sorts of other boxes so that the lid does not come off.

  3. Lyudmila

Thank you, I liked the tips

  4. Elena

    Good advice. Thank you.

  5. Roxana

I also use cut elastic bands from socks, socks, and tights. Both in the apartment and in the country house

  6. Nina

    Great tips thanks

  7. Faith

    Cool thanks interesting article

  8. Dilara

The tips are great! As always, everything simple is brilliant!

    • Salisa

I also liked the tips with gloves, thank you.

  9. Sergevna

An interesting device for shooting rowan, I will definitely show it to my grandson....))

    • Olga

I don’t recommend this kind of entertainment, you might get hurt in the eye.

  10. Anna

I just throw them away. 100 pieces of elastic bands cost 27 rubles. At least they are clean and new. I have to throw away the old ones, even though I’m a pensioner.

    • Olga

I think the same as you, there is no point in creating junk at home.

    • ???

      ????

    • Tamara

For your comment Anna - great for you

  11. Lydia

I use rubber gloves for dirty tasks after which they can only be thrown away. No way to use them on hangers, cutting boards, etc.! You can buy rubber bands at a stationery store, does anyone really think differently? Where do you use gloves, after which they remain clean?

    • Tatiana

I agree with you 100%. Used gloves have no place on the table, on a pack of pasta, cereals, etc.

    • Irina

Agree with you. Gone are the days when we adapted to different applications. I immediately throw away torn gloves.

    • Albina

      Agree with you!

    • Love

I use it for washing dishes. I use others for dirty work. For floors - some, for baths - others, for toilets - others. How could it be otherwise? After the dishes, why not use them around the house.

    • Olga

I agree with you completely. I have a package of bank rubber bands, they cost a penny, but I think there’s no point in making this disgraceful thing at home.

    • Natalia

I have psoriasis, I do everything with gloves. The truth has survived a lot of dishes, it is more difficult to wash with gloves, it slips out. Why can you wash dishes with gloves, but you can’t open a jar or fix the lid? The main thing is to use clean ones. And the elastic bands for money are rubbish, they dry out, burst and are too thin. I liked some of the tips.

    • Svetlana

In the kitchen, sometimes gloves tear, almost as if they were new! Once and a hole!

    • Olga

I use it in the garden, I'll take your advice.

  12. Irina

Agree with you. Gone are the days when we adapted to different applications. I immediately throw away torn gloves. They have no place in the house!

  13. Anna

Thank you, very useful information. WELL DONE

  14. Svetlana

Interesting useful thoughts, but where else to store all these rubber bands...

    • Valentina

      I wouldn't use it

  15. Tatiana

    Helpful tips, thanks.

  16. Not

U B O G E S T V O ??????? YOU HAVE A PENNY PRICE FOR WASTEMENT, YOU LIVE ONLY BY CONSUMPTION, MAY GOD CONQUER YOU FROM THE HEAVEN, YOU ARE JUST KILLING OUR MOTHER EARTH - AN ARMY OF CONSUMERS - ESPECIALLY IN RUSSIA THERE IS NO CULTURE OF COLLECTION, SORTING. WHY LIVE LIKE THIS AND HOW THE EARTH WEARS SUCH PEOPLE AND DO NOT BE SURPRISED BY THE CORONAVIRUS - GOD’S PUNISHMENT. THANK YOU SAY IT’S NOT A METEORITE…..FEAR FIRES, FLOODS THE WATER WILL RISE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN AND WILL TAKE REVENGE ON YOU TEMPORARY GUESTS OF THE EARTH AND WILL BE SWEARED UP LIKE CHIPES AND WILL NOT ASK THE CHAIRPERSON, PRESIDENT, JUDGE, BABY OR WHO IS THE POWER THERE WILL BE REVENGE AND ITS REVENGE WILL BE SCARY AND THE CORONAVIRUS WILL SEEM TO BE A FLOWER...... PEOPLE YOU ARE JUST GUESTS DON'T FORGET, BUT THE EARTH HAS LIFE WITHOUT US AND WILL STILL LIVE.

    • Guest

I don’t understand - the water that will rise from the bottom of the ocean, what will it take revenge for? — because they used rubber bands from old gloves, or because they didn’t use rubber bands from old gloves?

    • Alla

What an evil person you are! These are the ones God should punish.

  17. N ANI

    GOOD ADVICE.

  18. Evgeniya

Yes, smart girl! And no matter what they say, the article is from a series of little tricks of doing. housekeeping.thank you.

  19. Gregory

What do you have in mind. The fact that the person gave you valuable advice or the fact that you do not know how to use these tips.

  20. Anastasia

this is called a madhouse, comrades, I put a paper napkin under the board, in your case, the elastic bands need to be removed, washed, dried and put on again, why such a hassle? for paints there is a wonderful invention of mankind - a special tray where excess paint is removed, for closets from cats and children there are special devices, hangers you can initially buy normal, cans can be opened perfectly by a can opener, for cereals there are special clamps and cans, as well as cereals in bags, and it all costs very little, lasts longer and looks prettier.

    • Olga

I add everything you write about, I use gloves and throw them away, as I consider it unhygienic to use them in the future.

    • Agree.

      Agree.

  21. Olga

Who runs your household? There have been no countesses and princesses in our country since 1917.

  22. Galina

Good advice, thanks. I would like to hear how to ruin gloves to the point of being impossible to use again, when they sometimes tear the first time they are used? Tell me, I spent a fortune on them. Just don't talk about the price, it doesn't work.

    • Lera

About the price in vain? I bought very dense ones for 90 rubles. 2 years ago, tall, up to the elbow, they still don’t break! I don’t know how much they cost now...

  23. Valery

If you look at the comments to the tips
, then there are always people who
They criticize from the position that they say we
We don’t waste time on trifles and throw everything away. Maybe we came to the wrong place, coolies
    ?

    • Love

      !!!

    • Marina

Exactly! I also don’t understand how the wind brought them into this article! What did they expect to read when they clicked on the title, which clearly indicated the content? A new way to throw gloves in the trash? Can't you even handle it yourself?

  24. Love

For Lazy People, everything is hemorrhoids.
Thanks for the advice. I am often irritated by rubber bands; they break if you tighten them too much. And the gloves have more elastic rubber.

  25. Olga

I'll give you a hint. Go to the MEDTEKHNIKA store, buy gloves of BLUE color. I bought 3 pairs a year ago and they are still intact. I mostly wash things in them that are not machine washable. And I wash them almost every day, especially in the summer.

  26. Hope

Well, the rich have nothing to do here…..And she’s a great girl, especially at this time\this isn’t Moscow where pensioners were given 8 thousand in aid, and we have to survive\we sit and don’t really know how this will end... we’re sitting on one pension... .

    • Svetlana

It's not even about wealth! The savings are not big, but there is less harm to nature! We need to be conscious about consumption! Otherwise it’s almost trash. I sort, wash and hand over plastic, and I try to reuse it, I carry my own bags and eco-bag, but still one person produces a lot of garbage a month, the planet is overwhelmed, the consumer society leads to hard labor. Is it any wonder, before we didn’t even know what gluten and milk allergy were, now meeting a child without allergies is a rarity! It’s impossible to live - after me, even a flood, that’s enough for my lifetime! It’s not enough anymore, oncology is all around us!

    • Marina

Yes, this aspect worries me too. Reducing and sorting waste seems to me necessary and useful to improve or at least reduce the deterioration of the environment. A minimum, but if everyone or many do what they can, then there is hope for the best. And at a minimum, your conscience is clear and does not torment you.

  27. Iris

Yes, the need for invention is tricky... Have you tried going to IKEA?

    • Anna

What do lkea villages also have?

  28. Nina

No creativity, no intelligence, no imagination. Only money, money, money... And the author of the article is great

  29. Nina

Well done, creative mind, not consumer mind!

  30. Tamara

    I cannot blame the author for tight-fistedness and lack of imagination;
She is a smart girl who has a rational and business-like approach to any business. For her, a penny saves a ruble, and used items can be successfully used on the farm.
Well done. I respect smart people.

  31. Anna

What do lkea villages also have?

  32. Oksana

Don’t forget that half of Russia lives in poverty.

  33. Tatiana

one dissatisfied with life... Thank you to the author for the experience!!!

  34. Lyalya

Where did you see 100 pieces for 27 rubles?

  35. Alla

    Looks terrible.

  36. Alexander

I have 63 tips very useful thank you very much

  37. Lydia

The advice is good. I'll take some of them into service.

  38. Anna

Tips will come in handy, thanks??

  39. Tatiana

Thank you so much didn't even occur to me

  40. Larisa

Super, I’ll definitely use it at the dacha, this is a great idea, smart girl!

  41. Nina

Each person has a choice and his own opinion...someone lets out poison...someone is being smart...we are all different...both in status...and in circles...And thanks for the advice!

  42. Alexander

Strange comments. There are people who cannot help but think and use their minds, at least for a little saving. How there are poets. who cannot help but write poetry, even if no one needs them.
Therefore, criticism of supporters of one or another approach is stupid. Everyone chooses what is closest to them.

  43. DASHUTYA

THANK YOU! VERY GOOD AND USEFUL IDEAS

  44. Lydia

Well done! We're used to throwing everything in the trash can. Not bad ideas at all.

  45. Alya

I respect other people’s ideas. Sometimes I use it. But I put a cotton pad on a bottle of oil; in the middle I make a cross-shaped cut and on the neck. You can take two discs.

  46. Larisa

To prevent oil from flowing through the bottle, wrap clean cut elastic bands from old socks around the neck.

  47. Svetlana

The advice is good, but for the future write dosochka, not “dostochka”

  48. Lilya

Very useful tips. Definitely not for white-handed people. There are all sorts of FIFAs, and everything is ok with them.

  49. Tatiana

    Great tips

  50. Svetlana

Everyone does what suits them best. I would either buy rubber bands or cut a new glove. It's actually more hygienic. Can I put a thin kitchen towel under the board??

  51. Marina

Guest, it doesn't matter. The main thing is that he will rise up and punish everyone for everything, starting with babies who have not mastered the “culture of collecting and sorting” and ending with such pseudo-preachers, so that they don’t become hysterical and don’t act like that on the Internet.
    Amen.

    • Marina

Sorry, for some reason it was published in the main top, and not as a response to a specific comment, with a forecast of celestial punishments, printed in capslock, although I answered there...

  52. Marina

An excellent selection of tips with options for using cut-up gloves, and similar rubber bands in general! Many thanks to the author, who was not too lazy to collect and publish them!
I’m about 65 and I knew most of the tips before the article, but for me there were 2-3 new use cases. ))))
    Thanks again!

  53. Lala

    Great tips, thanks.

  54. OOO

For washing dishes I use construction thick rubber gloves (not very thick). They last for several months. They don’t stretch, hot water doesn’t burn your hands. (If suddenly...) I usually buy from Leroy.

  55. Larisa

Tips for giving are quite useful. Every day at my dacha two pairs break.

  56. Tata

Healthy. Especially the rubber band on the door lock...

  57. Tuyana

Wow! I will definitely take some of the tips into account. You give a second life to old things in order to somehow minimize waste!

  58. Svetlana K.

    Dear Author!
Thank you very much and do not pay attention to those who ask stupid questions or write unflattering words. This same negativity will return to them. If you don't like it, read it and forget it.
If you have any ideas or your own best practices, please share with the community. Teach and advise. They will only be grateful to you for this. As Leopold the cat said: “Baby, let’s live together!”

  59. Hope

Thanks to the author, I will definitely use the advice.

  60. Olya Lya

Thanks to the author, I’ll use some advice, live and learn, but for the skeptics that if you don’t say everything will be bad, I’m surprised that in real life they live with such negativity.
