Home dry cleaning
Modern people are accustomed to having at their disposal a variety of industrial powders and bleaching agents, which (according to advertising) can instantly restore the original whiteness of things at home. There is only one drawback to all these bleaches - the price is not always affordable. And if you consider how much white clothes each of us has in our wardrobe, putting them in order can cost a considerable amount. Therefore, in order to avoid all these accompanying troubles, we conduct an audit of the house. Surely you have something that will help you lighten a blouse or T-shirt.
-
- The simplest folk method is boiling. Everything is simple here - put white things in an enamel container, fill it with water and put it on the fire. The process should take no more than half an hour. For greater effect, you can add a little ammonia or “Whiteness” to the water. Yes, it's effective. Yes, simple. But the smell is just terrible. And blouses and T-shirts quickly become unusable. So we leave boiling for an emergency - if your favorite blouse has turned gray and you need it urgently, but there is nothing at home suitable for gentle bleaching.
- The second method is more gentle. You will need a basin, water at a temperature of 40 degrees and hydrogen peroxide - 4 large spoons for every two liters of water. Mix all this and put a shirt, T-shirt or other item that you need to bleach here. Leave for 20 minutes and then wash as usual.
- For the next option you will need more ingredients, but the effect of use is much higher. So, prepare toothpaste (the simplest one - without dyes, flavors and similar additives), salt, baking powder, vinegar. In a basin or saucepan in which you will bleach things, pour a quarter glass of salt, half a glass of baking powder, squeeze out the paste (the entire tube) and pour two tablespoons of table vinegar. If there are old yellow stains on things, pour a little into the container. soda ash. Then you need to pour water into this mixture and mix everything well. Put white things here and forget about them for a couple of hours. After the specified time has passed, wring out the clothes and leave to dry. As soon as the items are dry, you can put them in the washing machine on a normal cycle.
- Surprisingly, potassium permanganate can also help restore whiteness to clothes at home.. Just make a weak solution, add a little washing powder and soak your blouse or T-shirt in this mixture for 10 minutes. Then you can put it in the washing machine.
- If your clothes are made of pure cotton or linen, they can be bleached using ammonia. Add a spoonful of this product to a bowl of water and soak things in the mixture for about ten minutes. Then rinse and send to dry.
- Synthetic items can be bleached in a saline solution. Take two tablespoons of salt per liter of warm water, stir well and soak the blouses for 20 minutes. Be sure to rinse well afterwards.
- You can also try a mixture of table salt and peroxide if the situation with the color of your clothes has not yet gone too far. Dilute four tablespoons of salt, the same amount of hydrogen peroxide, a spoonful of ammonia and a little washing powder in a bowl of water. Dissolve everything well and put the washed white items here. After 15 minutes you can take it out, rinse and dry.
- Regular laundry soap will also work., if such a rarity is still found in your home. Just rub it all over your blouse or stains and leave for half an hour. Then rinse well and you are ready to dry.
- Helps whiten things and boric acid. For every two liters of hot water, take two tablespoons of acid and stir. The shirt or T-shirt should be left in this solution for at least two hours, then rinsed well.
- One of the easiest ways to whiten clothes is with baking soda.. When washing, just add a couple of spoons of this substance to the powder and you get perfectly white clothes. If the situation is completely dire, then you can first soak the clothes in a soda solution.
These simple methods will help you restore the original whiteness of your blouses and shirts. And what’s especially pleasing is that all this doesn’t require a lot of money. All components are either already at home, or can be purchased by spending a minimum of money on it. And the financial issue is an important factor, especially when there are children in the house.White tights, T-shirts, shirts and blouses of students instantly lose their attractive appearance, and industrial products will have to be purchased in huge quantities. Therefore, it is worth remembering traditional whitening methods that will help you save your family budget. Just be sure to follow the dosage and do not keep things in the solution for a long time, otherwise you may permanently damage the fabric.
How to prevent color change?
Of course, it is always better to prevent things from turning gray or yellow than to think about it later. Unfortunately, not everything depends on our caring attitude towards it. Bad water, ecology, deodorants and other unfavorable factors can affect clothing. But you can reduce the likelihood of discoloration, and, as a result, you will no longer have to waste time and effort on bleaching.
- Install a good filter on your water supply to protect your items from impurities.
- Use special powder.
- Wash white clothes separately from other items.
- If you washed colored or black clothes before white clothes, you should first run an empty machine with bleach.
- Do not store blouses and T-shirts for a long time in dark rooms without access to fresh air.
- Try soaking your clothes in cold water before washing, sometimes this helps preserve the color.
- Be sure to follow the care instructions on the label.
If you are not lazy to follow these rules and treat white things with care, they will serve you for a long time, maintaining their attractiveness and integrity. And you no longer have to rack your brains about how to return them to their previous appearance. Moreover, you won’t have to spend a lot of money updating your wardrobe.
