How to wash tulle in a machine: 7 suitable modes
In fact, there are several possible programs for washing tulle. Each manufacturer uses its own washing algorithms and designations. The universal mode for washing tulle is “Delicate”.
How to properly wash tulle in a machine?
Washing tulle in a washing machine has its own subtleties. The product is considered delicate and can easily become damaged. At high temperatures, the fabric turns yellow, and when spun, it loses strength and stretches. Therefore, all thin curtains are washed in a gentle cycle.
- Preparation
Before placing the tulle in the drum, it is very important to inspect it for damage. Holes and arrows need to be mended. Sticking threads and hooks should be eliminated.
It is also recommended to shake off dust from the curtains so that it does not get into the fabric when washing.
- Drum placement
It is not recommended to load anything else into the machine besides tulle. Firstly, washing a product requires a lot of water, and other things will absorb it. Secondly, the curtain can get caught on buttons, locks or decorative details on clothing.
Tulle made of nylon, chiffon, organza, as well as muslin is strongly recommended to be washed in a delicate wash bag. As a last resort, place the item in a clean white pillowcase and tie the hole with string.
Program selection
It's no secret that the programs of different washing machines differ. Some machines have a special program “Curtains” (“Curtains”).
If there is no such program, use the “Delicate” mode (the symbol is a flower).It involves heating water to 30–40 degrees, using a large amount of water and minimal spin. In this mode, the curtains are well cleaned, do not wrinkle and do not lose strength.
If the tulle looks very fragile and thin, you can use “Hand Wash”.
List of programs that are suitable for tulle:
- "Delicate";
- "Sensitive";
- "Handwash";
- "Curtains (blinds)";
- “Delicate linen (silk)”;
- "Thin fabrics";
- "Wool".
Tulle is not afraid of being in water for a long time. Therefore, washing time is not limited. You can also set an additional rinse. But it’s better to turn off the spin or set the minimum speed.
Tulle made of polyester with a mixture of cotton can be washed at 60 degrees, other types of fabrics - at no more than 40, and preferably 30 degrees.
After washing, it is recommended to immediately hang the tulle on a baguette. Under its own weight, the fabric will straighten, and the moisture will evaporate in a matter of hours. If you hang it on a line to dry, creases will appear.
Ironing the product is also not recommended. Ironing is used only in extreme cases. To smooth the material, use a steam generator or iron it with an iron through gauze at a temperature of 100–160 degrees.
Drapes and curtains add completeness to the interior and make the room truly cozy. However, they quickly collect dust. In order not to wash tulle by hand for a long time and tediously, many people have long switched to automatic washing. Almost all modern equipment has special modes for washing thin, delicate fabrics: “Delicate”, “Hand Wash”, “Curtains”, “Silk”, “Wool”. You can use any of the listed modes or independently select a temperature of 30 degrees, remove the spin and add an additional rinse. An hour's wash is enough to clean the curtains.
Everything is written very clearly. Thank you
