How to make money by selling old household appliances?

We understand perfectly well that all the equipment, although already old, was acquired through backbreaking labor, so we will not advise you to simply take this pile of metal to the nearest trash can. In fact, old appliances can make some money if you can find a place to sell them off at a good rate.

Why is a recycling program not an option?

Recycling is not just a way to get rid of outdated, unnecessary items, but also a program aimed at maintaining our environment in a livable condition. Did you know that many household appliance parts must be taken to a recycling center, and this is indicated in the operating instructions? Air conditioners, mobile phones, anything that contains circuits and circuit boards should not simply be thrown into a landfill, since these elements not only can be recycled into something useful, but will also negatively affect the environment if no one talks about them will take care. But where can you take all this?

Unfortunately, despite the importance and prevalence of the equipment recycling program in Russia, you will have to suffer if you still want to contribute to the serene future of new generations. Firstly, not all cities have special points for recycling equipment, and even in a city with a population of one million it can be problematic to find such an office. Secondly, the owner must bear all disposal costs: delivery and the process itself can cost a lot of money.And finally, no one will pay you for it, and that’s clearly not why you started reading this article. Therefore, we will postpone the disposal option until you are imbued with the spirit of the “green” movement, and consider much more mercantile options in order to get at least some money.

Let’s say right away: it will be difficult to install even relatively new household appliances at even half the price. The problem is that new models are being released faster and faster, and the gap in the quality and sophistication of TVs, refrigerators and cars is widening by leaps and bounds. And yet, the chance of getting at least some money from a used item is quite high: it all depends on where to take it, what condition it is in and how old it is.

• Outdated but working equipment

If you just decide to buy a newer model of a TV or refrigerator, and you don’t need the old equipment, being in absolutely working condition, it won’t be difficult to find a new owner: if the cost of the goods is adequate, by the evening there will be someone who wants to take your old equipment to your dacha, hostel or village. But this is if you know where you can place an ad.

All transactions of this kind are now carried out online, which is very convenient, and to sell working equipment you don’t even have to look for specialized sites: any platform with advertisements in your city will do. It could be a flea market on VKontakte, Avito, or a city portal: a whole line can line up for a good thing at an affordable price!

Also, many hardware stores periodically organize promotions to exchange old equipment for new ones, and if you keep track of such offers, you can not only return your old refrigerator or TV, but also purchase a new one at a profit!

You can also leave your working item in pawn shops: if you don’t want to think about selling it yourself, you can hand over your old equipment there.

Try to take several photos of the item you are selling: ads without visual support for information always have fewer views, which means your chance of quickly getting rid of old equipment will be much lower.

• Relatively new broken equipment

Do you have fairly new equipment, the repair of which is either impossible or unreasonably expensive? Then you have a chance to hand over such a refrigerator or TV for disassembly: many workshops either repair and resell such equipment, or use suitable parts to repair other things. Here, the newer the broken item, the better, but it is quite possible that someone will also need spare parts from the old Atlant. The sales platform is still the same: craftsmen monitor sites like Avito, looking for the models they need, but if you know a specific household appliance repair shop or private craftsman, you can contact them directly.

• Rarity

An old TV can be sold for 50 thousand rubles, but only if it is a model from the 50s, and preferably in working condition! Your used vintage equipment will also be snatched away from you, and you won’t have to hand it over anywhere. Perhaps your old ZIL, dusty in the closet, will take its place with some collector or antique lover, thereby bringing a significant amount of money to the previous owner.

Even the most unsightly TV or refrigerator may be needed by someone for completely unpredictable purposes: sometimes the parts are needed for art objects and installations, or maybe your ad will be seen by some novice design engineer. If you are not in a big hurry, then you can try to sell even junk inexpensively on the Internet.

You can get some money for old equipment quite easily, and sometimes the amounts can reach tens of thousands of rubles. Adequately assess the condition of your refrigerator or TV, place an ad, and your buyer will not be long in coming!
