How to sew a mask without a sewing machine in 2 minutes
During a shortage of basic means of protection against coronavirus, there is no need to panic. You can sew a reusable mask in a couple of minutes, even if you have never been into needlework and without a sewing machine!
We will need:
- a piece of pure cotton fabric 36 cm long and 20 cm wide;
- elastic bands, each 17 cm long;
- iron;
- thread and needle.
We sew a mask step by step:
1. Iron the fabric and fold it in half so that the wrong side is on the outside.
2. Fold about 1.5-2 cm of fabric outward from one edge and carefully smooth the fold with an iron.
3. Turn the fabric over and do the same on the other side.
4. We need to recreate the folded shape of the medical mask. To do this, you need to fold the fabric in a herringbone pattern twice and iron the folds on both sides. Do not unfold the central fold.
5 . Now we unfold the fabric and begin to sew elastic bands for the ears. Place the edge of one elastic band in the center of the long side of the mask. Place the other end on the nearest narrow edge of the fabric. We work on the wrong side.
6. On the other side, apply the second elastic band in the same way.
7. Sew both edges together with elastic bands.
8. Turn it inside out and straighten it out. The mask is ready! Wear and wash it daily and don't worry about the virus!
