4 ways to neatly fold a fitted sheet

Folding a fitted sheet is not an easy task. Fortunately, the problem can be solved. Moreover, there are several ways to do it correctly.

Bed sheet with elastic band

Method one: easy

You can carefully fold the sheet according to this pattern:

  1. Lay out on a flat surface so that the wrong side is on top.
  2. Fold the edges with the elastic inside.
  3. Start folding the rest of the fabric from the edges to the center, limiting each fold with the edges of the elastic.
  4. Fold the fabric in half along the resulting “seam” in the middle. At this stage you should end up with a rectangle.
  5. Then you can fold lengthwise or crosswise, one or several times - it all depends on your preferences and the size of the fabric.

This method is the easiest and fastest. In addition, it does not require any skill, as it resembles standard laying of bed linen.

Method two: popular

You can beautifully fold a small knitted sheet (for example, from a children's bedding set) using the following algorithm:

  1. Turn the sheet inside out and fold it lengthwise.
  2. Slide your fingers through the top and bottom corner seams (the corners you hold should be on the same side).
  3. Place one of the corners that you had in your hands over the other one so that the right side of the sheet is on the outside. At this stage, you should have 2 loops: the top one, which was just folded, and the bottom one, which is free.
  4. Holding the top loop, repeat the previous step with the remaining corners from below, that is, throw them on top of each other. The result is again a loop on each side, but this time each consists of folded corners.
  5. Insert your hand into the bottom loop from the inside and tuck this part of the fabric under the top loop so that the front part of the bottom loop touches the inside of the top loop.
  6. Take the fabric by the fold with both hands, shake it slightly and place it on a flat surface.
  7. To give the material a shape, you will need to fold the elastic, which should be on both edges, in the shape of the letter L.
  8. Straighten the folds with your hands and fold the sheet several times from the edges to the center. It should be a rectangle.
  9. Now the material can be folded in half one or more times - depending on its size or your preferences - and again straighten the excess folds with your hands.

Since this method involves folding by weight, it may not be very convenient if the sheet is large.

Rolled sheets

Method three: universal

  1. Lay the fabric out on a horizontal surface.
  2. Take one of the corners of the sheet and insert it into the opposite corner on the same side.
  3. Repeat the previous step with the remaining corners.
  4. Smooth out any wrinkles with your hands.
  5. Lightly tuck the edge with the elastic inward.
  6. Take the material by the narrow side and roll it into a tight roll.

Bed linen laid in this way can be stored both horizontally and vertically. For reliability, you can tie the roll with any thread or ribbon.

Method four: original

This method is convenient if the laundry is stored where it can be easily reached by children. In case of a fall, the folded sheet will remain in its original form.

We fold it into an “envelope” according to the following algorithm:

  1. The first step is to fold the fabric in half - along the longest side, with the elastic side facing up.
  2. Place the folded sheet on a horizontal surface.
  3. Pull one of the edges to the middle of the material, then cover it with the remaining edge.
  4. Starting from the top, fold the sheet halfway and repeat the same process with the remaining fabric (starting, again, from the top). At this stage you should end up with a small rectangle.
  5. Straighten the fabric with your hands so that there are no creases and turn it over to the other side.
  6. Fold one end to the middle. If you lift the edges of the fabric, you should get a pocket.
  7. Tuck the rest of the sheet into the pocket and, if necessary, straighten it with your hands.

A fitted sheet folded in this way will look the same as a regular one. This is quite convenient when storing both types together.

Nuances and tips

Properly folded bed linen not only takes up less storage space, but also retains its attractive appearance longer.

The first and second of the described methods are ideal for thin synthetic fabrics. Of course, thick cotton can also be folded this way. But be prepared for the fact that it will look neat, but quite voluminous.

Large sheets, 140x200 or more, are more convenient to fold not on weight, but on a horizontal surface.

Folding a fitted sheet

Do not fold bed linen immediately after ironing. Let it cool thoroughly first.

To prevent the edges of the sheet from sticking out, they can be additionally ironed after the material is folded.

It turns out that folding a fitted sheet compactly is not so difficult. Each of the above methods provides convenient storage and prevents the fabric from becoming wrinkled.Try different options, choose your favorite - and go! By folding a sheet with an elastic band several times, you will easily learn how to do it quickly and effortlessly.

I was finally able to fold these sheets properly with elastic bands. It’s certainly convenient to lay and sleep on them, but folding them was not possible.
