What did you forget to buy for the New Year's table: checking the products against the list
In the pre-holiday hassle, it’s easy to lose sight of something. It’s not difficult to avoid this; you just need to make a grocery list for the New Year in advance.
What does this give?
Having an accurate list of necessary purchases, you can protect yourself from a lot of troubles on the eve of the coming New Year:
- you won’t have to waste time at the counters, remembering what else you need to take;
- things that are not needed will not be purchased, and accordingly, a little more money will be left (especially since by the end of December the prices for all products usually jump noticeably);
- time and energy will be left for something more important than a repeated trip (and more often than not, a run) to nearby stores, in which by this time the most popular products can already be “snatched up” by more prudent buyers;
- the pre-New Year's mood will not be spoiled, because you will not have to fray your nerves, jostling and standing in queues - it is no secret that at this time a frenzied rush begins in stores due to the same forgetful housewives;
- there will be a guarantee that all dishes will be prepared on time, because there is no need to postpone cooking until the moment when you finally have all the ingredients for a dish in your hands.
How to make a grocery list for the New Year?
It's not that hard to do. First you need to decide on the number of guests and create a holiday menu.Estimate the volume of portions and, accordingly, the consumption of ingredients for each dish, depending on the number of people celebrating.
Then they proceed according to the following scheme:
- Collect all the recipes for the dishes that will be on the festive table.
- Write out each component from them in a column (and such, for example, “dishes” as sliced meat or fruit should be written down in the form of a recipe, in order to accurately understand what exactly will be included in them).
- Recurring products are recorded as a total amount (for example, 5 eggs are needed for a salad and 4 for a pie, for a total of 9).
- Cross out those foods that are at home.
- They create a list of products, grouping them depending on how they are located on the shelves in a particular store (this will allow you not to rush around the entire supermarket, “cutting up the mileage,” but to methodically move between the shelves, filling the basket).
Add to this list items that cannot be called products, but without which not a single New Year's feast is complete. These are holiday crackers, fireworks, candles, foil or baking sleeves, napkins, medications for heaviness, bloating, diarrhea, poisoning, heartburn, hangover.
What products should I buy?
There is no single list of products for each family. After all, everyone has their own culinary preferences, their own financial capabilities, and eating style (some fast, some follow a diet, are fond of raw food or vegetarianism). Therefore, you need to choose from the list and buy only those products that are typical for a particular situation.
So, provisions.

We repeat that not everything on this list will be needed for the New Year; you need to choose “your” products.
