I peeled the orange, poured oil into the peel - I’ll show you what happened
If you're planning a romantic evening, take this life hack into account. An orange and a small amount of oil, 2 minutes of time - and all this wealth turns into an interesting candle. It will burn longer than the usual “tablets” and will delight you with its brightness and aroma.
Peel the orange and pour oil into the peel
To carry out the experiment you will need:
- fresh orange;
- kitchen knife;
- flat spoon;
- vegetable oil;
- matches or lighter.
What do we have to do:
- We are looking for a green-gray dot on an orange - a sepal.
- Taking it as a “pole”, we cut the peel along the “equator”, trying not to touch the pulp.
- Insert a spoon into the gap and slowly separate the orange from the peel.
- First remove the top (without the sepals).
- We take special care with the lower part. You need to take out the orange so as not to damage the core, which is located in the middle between the segments.
- Pour vegetable oil into the resulting cup so that 1 cm of the rod remains on the surface.
- Let's light the fuse.
- We turn off the light and admire the improvised candle.
When separating the peel, it is important not to rush. Move the spoon in a spiral, gently rolling the orange in your hands.
Decorative candlestick
You can go even further and cover the improvised candle with an orange lid. To do this, you need to make a hole in the second half of the peel. Through it, oxygen will enter the candle. The hole is also necessary for heat to escape.
- Take the second part of the orange peel.
- From the inside in the middle, cut out a circle, square or star with a diameter of 2-3 cm.
- Cover the candle.
Orange peels can be used to create a "tablet" candle holder. Use cookie cutters and piping bag tips to make shaped holes. The more slits you make, the more spectacular the candlestick will turn out.
It is better to choose a large orange with a thick peel. Then the candle will last longer and look neat.
Scented candle
For some reason, many people think that an orange candle must certainly exude a citrus aroma. Unfortunately, if it smells at all, it is very faint. To fill your home with a pleasant aroma, you need to add one more ingredient - orange essential oil.
3-4 drops are enough. Or you can experiment with aromas and mix cedar, eucalyptus and citrus. Or scent a candle with vanilla essential oil. You should not mix too many oils; this rarely leads to a successful result.
A life hack with orange peel and oil will come in handy if the lights suddenly turn off and there are no flashlights or candles in the house. You can show the experiment to children. The main thing is not to leave the orange candle unattended. Place it in a cup to prevent it from accidentally falling. And don't take this life hack too seriously. An orange candle does not last long. After a few hours it will turn into regular waste.
