Is it possible to store moonshine in plastic bottles: about containers and safety measures

It is not recommended to store moonshine in plastic bottles. There are much safer and more aesthetically pleasing materials, such as glass. You can use shaped bottles, create your own label design and serve homemade alcohol to your holiday table as if it were elite, without worrying about its quality.

How to store moonshine

Improper storage of alcohol at home is one of the most popular reasons for failure in this matter. The taste of alcohol depends even on the glass in which it is served, but what about the bottle in which the strong drink is stored for months and even years? This is why plastic is not the best solution for moonshine.

A few words about plastic: a cheap bottle will begin to release toxic substances over time. Even neutral drinking water is not recommended to be stored in a plastic bottle, and alcohol usually causes an unexpected chemical reaction. Don’t be fooled by the cheapness of the material and the dominance of plastic bottles of alcohol in stores; rather, think about safety and pure taste.

Important
In a plastic bottle, alcohol not only takes on a nasty taste and becomes cloudy, but also becomes hazardous to health: toxic substances begin to be released from the walls of the bottle.

In what container to store homemade moonshine:

  1. It is best to keep alcohol in a glass bottle or jar. Glass does not react with alcohol, and you do not have to worry about the quality of the drink. It is correct to store moonshine in dark glass containers.
  2. Alcohol connoisseurs age it in an aspen or oak barrel. There the moonshine takes on a refined golden hue. But such containers are not suitable for storage. They are expensive, require special conditions, and over-aged moonshine in them becomes harsh.

Cloudy moonshine

Moonshine is a crystal clear liquid, so cloudiness and sediment in the form of flakes are signs of spoilage. This drink should not be consumed.

If there are no alternatives other than plastic, then make sure that you use a bottle labeled PET - a durable plastic that can be recycled. But try to transfer the contents into a more suitable container within a week. We recommend using glass: you are allowed to take already used bottles from store drinks or purchase new ones.

Another ban applies to storing alcohol in an aluminum flask and galvanized containers. Storage in stainless steel containers is allowed.

How to store moonshine at home

Try to provide shade at home: the sun's rays negatively affect the taste and color of alcohol. Place bottles in a dark cabinet. It’s not for nothing that connoisseurs prefer special cellars.

Tip from purity-en.htgetrid.com magazine: to protect moonshine in a transparent glass bottle, wrap the container in foil or thick paper.

Alcohol stores well at room temperature and does not require refrigeration. If the apartment is too warm (above 20 degrees), you can avoid cluttering the household appliance and place the bottles in a cool cellar. You can use a refrigerator, but it is not necessary. But the freezer is not recommended for storage.

Advice
Try to avoid sudden temperature changes in the place where the moonshine is standing.

How long does homemade moonshine last? In suitable conditions, a strong drink will last up to five years, moonshine-based drinks - two years.

About the traffic jam

Plastic stoppers will not affect the quality of the drink. Use regular plugs or dispenser elements. Remember to cap the bottle tightly.

Advice
The same rules should be followed when storing homemade cognac and other strong drinks.

Home production should be approached responsibly if you want to enjoy the exquisite taste of drinks. Let the purest home-made moonshine, which has been properly stored, be your reason for pride. But do not forget that even the highest quality alcohol, if consumed in moderation, is harmful to health.

The article is about nothing! The person clearly doesn’t understand the topic! 1. You can store it in plastic, but only for a very short time! 2. Usually moonshine is stored for a very short time (if it’s good) - they don’t allow it to be stored, they consume it quickly. 3. The taste does NOT depend on the glass in principle (if you didn’t fill the glass with something before and forgot to wash it. 4. If you really have a lot of moonshine left, then it’s best to pour it into glass jars and cover it with an iron lid. 5. Storage. If the moonshine is properly made, then its shelf life is UNLIMITED! (see point 4) Just put it in a dark place at normal temperature. Freeze - STRICTLY BEFORE USE!, and that’s not for everyone. So, madam, learn material part, and do not write such heresy, so as not to lead inexperienced people into such deep errors!
