Unraveling the wire from the phone: 2 wrong and 1 correct way
How to untangle a telephone wire - ordinary citizens are increasingly less likely to ask this question, since landline telephones have almost completely disappeared from apartments and houses. However, in offices this problem is still relevant.
Unraveling the telephone wire
Humanity knows at least three ways to untangle a telephone wire. But not all of them are effective - one can be called useless, and the other, instead of solving the problem, only aggravates it.
Method 1 – complicated and incorrect
Once upon a time, it was used by telephone technicians who wanted to show that they were busy at work and not toiling around with boredom. They disconnected one end of the cord (most often the one that was connected to the device), took a pencil and wound the wire around it, turn by turn, repeating the original shape of the curls. Of course, they succeeded in untangling the knots, but this method had many disadvantages:
- the spiral wound around a pencil turned out to be dense, ugly and less flexible than the factory one;
- in order to disassemble the device body and disconnect the wire, tools were required (at least a screwdriver);
- the work took quite a long time.
This method can still be found on the Internet today, but hardly anyone seriously thinks about using it in practice.
Method 2 - simple, but also incorrect
Having noticed knots on a telephone wire, a person instinctively tries to remove them.And the first thing that comes to his mind is to grab the wire with both hands and stretch it in different directions. However, the effect of this is exactly the opposite - the number of deformations grows exponentially, and in addition, one half of the cord is wrapped around the second, forming a tight “pigtail” with a loop at the end. Remember for yourself and tell your friends: you can’t do this.
Method 3 – recommended
The problem is much easier to solve than you might imagine. It is enough to do this:
- Select one node on the wire.
- With the thumb and forefinger of your right hand, grasp the place where the knot ends and the normal wire begins on the right. Then repeat a similar manipulation on the left, using your left hand.
- At the same time, turn the ends of the cord in opposite directions (toward and away from you).
That's it, one node is missing. You can move on to the next one and eliminate it using the same method. Everything takes 2-3 seconds.
If you use a tangled wire all the time, there is a high probability that it will break in one of the deformed places - this is due to the stress that arises inside the material from which the braid is made. So it’s worth spending a minute of time so that you don’t have to spend several hundred rubles on repairing your phone later.
