10 secrets of cling film and ways to use it in everyday life

In the hands of a skilled housewife, any item becomes universal. Today I will tell you my favorite ways to use cling film - a faithful assistant in the kitchen and at home. It replaces my packaging bags, containers, lids, helps me prepare delicious dishes and save space.

We keep food fresh

The main advantages of cling film are its low cost, simplicity and versatility of use. It does not allow moisture and air to pass through. The edges of the film do not need to be tied. It is enough to unwind the desired piece, wrap the item and cut it off from the spool. Everything holds up perfectly, and the packaging is sealed and reliable, especially if you wrap several layers.

Most often I use cling film for the following purposes:

  • Freezing. I don't really like making pickles and marinades. I often freeze seasonal fruits and vegetables. I use film for packaging. For example, I divide the berries into portions, wrap them in plastic and place them in the freezer. One sachet – one serving. I took it out, cut it and cooked compote. Very comfortably! In a similar way, I freeze dumplings, dumplings and simply what I didn’t have time to eat.

  • Storing fruits, vegetables, herbs. It's no secret that cut vegetables and fruits become airy and quickly disappear. To prevent this from happening, it is convenient to use cling film. I wrap it around watermelons, melons, pumpkins, and extend the shelf life of bananas, pineapples, sliced fruits and vegetable salads.By the way, to prevent a bunch of bananas from spoiling for a long time, several layers of film need to be wrapped around the tails.
  • There is little space in the refrigerator - use film instead of lids. Sometimes, most often on holidays, the refrigerator is simply bursting with an abundance of food. Large pans do not fit. To save space, I remove the covers and use film instead.

Use in cooking

Cling film is also suitable for preparing various dishes. It does not contain toxic substances. You can heat food in the microwave or marinate meat. Or use it directly in cooking:

  • For fluffy dough. If you wrap the yeast dough in plastic and place it in the refrigerator, it will rise very quickly. It’s also convenient to cover the dough for pies, dumplings, and dumplings with film. While you're making a batch, nothing gets weathered.

  • We prepare a poached egg, an omelet and homemade sausages. From time to time I delight my family with delicious and healthy dishes. To prepare a poached egg, you need to make a bag out of film, crack the egg into it and lower it into boiling water for 3 minutes. The omelet is prepared in a similar way, only milk is added to the eggs, and I also put pieces of sausage, herbs and seasonings in the bag. Delicious! For sausages, I first make the minced meat, then spoon it onto the film at a distance of 1 cm, wrap it and form sausages.

Reliable packaging

You can wrap not only food, but also things in film. This is a sealed package for all occasions:

  • Relocation assistant. Cling film will help pack bulk materials, forks, spoons. If you wrap things with it, they will take up much less space in your suitcase. I also place pieces of film under the caps of shampoos, balms, and creams. This way they will probably not spill on the road.
  • Chest of drawers wrapped in cling film

  • Sippy cup. Those who have grandchildren and children know how often babies turn over cups. To avoid unnecessary cleaning, I wrap cling film around the glass for my granddaughter and make a hole with a tube. Ready! You can drink at any angle and even while running.

Cling film and creativity

At first glance, film is a boring subject. But if you think carefully, it can even be adapted for creativity. Here's what I came up with:

  • Drawings. My granddaughter really likes to draw, but if she accidentally gets her fingers dirty, she starts crying. I suggested that she make patterns through film. We first squeeze out the colors we like onto a landscape sheet, cover it with polyethylene and move it with a brush. When the drawing is ready, remove the cover and leave it to dry.
  • Drawing made using cling film and paints

  • Instead of a vase. I have one vase that lets water through. It is made of woven ropes. Very beautiful, but, alas, impractical. I finally figured out how to put fresh flowers in it! You need to lay out the film on the table, place napkins inside, wet them, and then wrap the flowers at the base. In this way they receive nutrition and can stand without water for a very long time.

Insect trap

Another useful way to use cling film is to create a trap for harmful insects that try to get into the house during the warm season. I do it according to this scheme:

  1. First you need to cut the plastic bottle. For the trap you only need the lower part.
  2. Next, you should pour bait into it - sweet jam, honey diluted with water, pieces of fruit.
  3. We wrap 4-5 layers of film around the hole and pierce 1-2 holes with a pencil.

Sensing the smell of food, midges and flies will rush into the hole, but will no longer be able to get out of it and will drown in the sweet liquid. In the summer I always have such a trap, and there are no harmful insects in the house.

Cling film is a very useful invention. One coil can replace dozens of bags and food trays. You can use it to make a sippy cup for your baby or an insect trap. How do you use it?
