Don't throw away old yarn - knit it into a stylish rug

Old stocks of thread often cause conflicting feelings: it’s a shame to throw it away, but there are no good ideas for use. We suggest knitting a rug from yarn. There are a lot of options for execution. When using leftover yarn, it is important not to get attached to its volume and color. Sometimes this is even beneficial: multi-colored rugs always look more fun. They will be appropriate in the hallway, in the nursery, on the loggia, in the bedroom and even in the bathroom.

A simple but very cute rug from the 90s. Looking at it, many will remember the happy times of youth and childhood. Previously, every grandmother knew how to knit such things. To make it, you don’t need to be fluent in crocheting – just learn how to make single crochet stitches:

For the rug you will need:

  • old yarn;
  • a hook corresponding to the thickness of the thread;
  • knitted ribbons (you can cut old T-shirts)
  • scissors.

Progress:

  1. Tie a knitted ribbon, forming a ring with a diameter of 3-5 cm.
  2. Knit single crochets with yarn around the ring. Do not pull the thread.
  3. Wrap the knitting with knitted ribbon. You will need to tie it.
  4. Knit the second row with single crochets - two in each stitch.
  5. Lay the ribbon again and continue knitting, making an increase, as shown in the diagram:

The advantage of the idea is that it does not require a large amount of yarn to implement it.

To make the rug look stylish, we advise you to carefully select colors. Knitted tapes and threads should be in harmony with each other.

Rug made of pompoms

Pompom mat

A soft and fluffy rug by the bed will delight not only the eye, but also the feet of the handicraft owner. It is worth warning that its production will require a lot of yarn (at least 300 g), as well as an impressive supply of perseverance and patience.

What you will need for production:

  • yarn;
  • thick cardboard;
  • the base for the rug is mesh, burlap or an old towel;
  • scissors.

Progress:

  1. First you need to make pompoms. You will need at least 35 pieces. The exact quantity depends on the desired size of the carpet, the size and fluffiness of the pompoms. They are made using a simple device. We suggest cutting it out of cardboard:

  2. At the next stage, the pompoms need to be sewn to the base, if it is fabric. When using a net, pompoms are tied to it.
