What things can and should be stored in vacuum bags, and what cannot be
Try vacuum bags: these devices are great space savers in your closet. True, not every item can be stored in them.
What items can and cannot be stored in vacuum bags
A vacuum bag is a transparent but dense plastic bag with a valve for air suction. Things are placed inside the bag, then it is closed with a built-in clip. The housewife can only squeeze out excess air with her hands or using a pump/vacuum cleaner and close the opening with a stopper. Thanks to the bag, the volume of the item is reduced by 2-3 times. It is very comfortable.
A vacuum bag is an excellent container for storing things that contain a lot of air. These are autumn and winter outerwear, overalls, pillows, blankets, blankets, soft toys, etc. It is also convenient to put bed linen, terry towels and bathrobes in such bags. But the optimal use of a vacuum is to store seasonal items that are not required to be accessed all the time.
Tip from purity-en.htgetrid.com magazine: use vacuum bags of different sizes to transport things or when traveling.
There are a number of materials whose storage in this way is prohibited:
- Leather products will become cracked.
- With fur trim - they will lose their shape.
- Items with sharp fittings or household items made of hard materials will damage the package itself.
- Food products will not be preserved; they are stored only in special food bags or film. Household vacuum bags are intended only for clothing and other fabric products.
How to store things in vacuum bags
There is nothing complicated about using vacuum bags in everyday life. Here are some basic rules:
- Place items in a vacuum bag strictly dry and clean.
- Do not fold the products haphazardly, but roll them up or simply roll them carefully.
- Don't try to fit more items into a bag than can fit in it. Some bags have a special mark up to which items can be folded. In general, the filling limit is 80% of the bag. If you overload the bag, the pressure will quickly cause it to lose its seal.
- When closing the bag with a zipper, make sure there are no gaps. Move the zipper along the zipper with a little force.
- Remove the air using a vacuum cleaner, after removing the nozzle from the pipe. Pump out the air until the end: the bag will shrink greatly, this is normal. After disconnecting the vacuum cleaner hose, quickly close the valve as air will begin to return inside.
- Some packages come with small pumps.
Advice
Before placing your winter jacket in a bag, turn it inside out so that the zippers and buttons do not damage the plastic. It is better to hide any potentially dangerous parts of the fittings in a layer of fabric.
Things in a vacuum bag wrinkle, but not so much that you have to worry about deformation. After washing they will come back to their proper form. The bag protects the fabrics from dust, dirt, insects and other troubles. There is no need to “air” your clothes either: it is enough to remove them once every few months. Store filled bags away from hot objects and sunlight - cupboards are fine.
Vacuum bags are intended for reusable use. Such a thing will definitely not be superfluous in the household if you use it correctly.
Vacuum bags are a great storage method. This is how I store seasonal items, warm blankets, pillows that we don’t use. Nothing gathers dust and takes up little space.
