Did you know how to properly store eye patches after opening?

Patches are actively used in cosmetology to eliminate dark circles under the eyes, nourish the skin, and remove dry skin and wrinkles. To avoid unexpected skin problems, eye patches must be stored correctly.

Two types of eye patches

Types of patches

Products for skin care around the eyes are classified by material and composition.

Based on the material, there are two types of cosmetic patches:

  • Hydrogel – have a gel base, contain hyaluronic acid and water. The products are aimed at lifting the skin - the effect is visible after several procedures.
  • Fabric – consist of a cotton fabric base impregnated with medicinal solutions. They relieve puffiness and circles, but do not tighten the skin.

Different types of eye patches
The composition of the patches can be completely different:

  • hyaluronic acids are necessary for eliminating wrinkles, tightening the skin, and eliminating dark circles;
  • patches with gold help prevent skin aging, make wrinkles less deep, increase the level of collagen inside cellular structures;
  • collagen is used to quickly restore the tone and turgor of the skin, but the duration of the cosmetic effect is short;
  • silicone ones can be used many times. They smooth the skin, forming a protective film.

Korean hydrogel patches are considered the most popular and effective products for caring for the skin around the eyes.They are easy to use: the devices are applied to the area under the eyes, left for 20 minutes, then removed and thrown away. After the procedure, a light massage is given.

Opened package of eye patches

Where and how to store after opening?

In production, the pads are packaged in individual packaging or plastic container boxes of 60 pieces or more. The liquid inside the packages prevents the patches from drying out. They produce both disposable and reusable products. Disposable ones must be thrown away after use.

Reusable pads require proper storage. Products are packed in a plastic container. After opening, you need to carefully monitor the condition of the container:

  • close it tightly regularly;
  • keep in a dry place;
  • place away from ultraviolet rays;
  • store at room temperature.

The shelf life of opened patch packaging at temperatures from +5 to +25 ᵒC is no more than 60 days.

Do not keep the container near devices that generate heat: the serum intended for preserving the pads deteriorates when heated regularly. At high temperatures, bacteria multiply quickly. Damaged patches are harmful to health.

Reusable patches are put back into a special case. Cleaning liquid is used to store them. It is allowed to use one pair of pads no more than 5-6 times, after which they are disposed of.

Can it be stored in the refrigerator?

Storing in the refrigerator helps reduce the rate of bacterial growth. But not all patches require low temperature. Only those products whose instructions call for chilled preservation are placed in the refrigerator.

In a cold place you need to keep pads that have an anti-edematous effect.When using refrigerated products, swelling goes away faster.

  • Reusable

Reusable patches are kept refrigerated, as the serum quickly deteriorates. After use, such pads should be rinsed with water and placed in a separate container with cleaning liquid.

  • Disposable

It is recommended to keep disposable products at room temperature. Cold storage is allowed, but this does not extend the shelf life.

Is it true that not everyone can use chilled patches?
Why do patches quickly deteriorate when kept at storage temperatures?

So, hydrogel pads can be stored refrigerated or at room temperature. It is better to keep reusable products in individual containers with cleaning liquid in the refrigerator. Disposable patches do not require refrigeration and are discarded after use. Proper storage helps prevent eye diseases, rashes, dryness, and skin allergies.
