Old pans shine like new - I just boil them in stationery glue and soda

To be honest, I haven’t tried to clean a pan with glue and soda for a long time. After all, I have a dishwasher at home, and I always wash the dishes after every meal. But life makes its own adjustments. And I had to go to the hospital for a long time. When I returned, I didn’t recognize my saucepans. And I almost cried over one - my husband cooked food in it on the stove at the dacha. But to my happiness, I remembered how my grandmother, then my mother, and then I put the dishes in order using improvised means.

How to boil dishes correctly

Grease, plaque and soot are not so easy to wipe off if they have had time to stick well. One of the most effective ways is to boil them in a specially prepared solution. And this will be confirmed by many women of different generations. But there is one “but” - you should take into account the material from which the dishes are made.

What materials are prohibited from boiling:

  • Teflon;
  • glass;
  • plastic;
  • ceramics;
  • tree;
  • porcelain.

If there are elements of prohibited materials on the pan or lid, it is better not to boil them. But enameled, aluminum and stainless steel pans, various cast iron cauldrons will shine like new. Glass containers can also be boiled, but only if they are made of heat-resistant glass.

Important! It is enough to clean the pots with this type of cleaning twice a year. The rest of the time you should just keep the dishes clean.

The method of cleaning dishes by boiling will help not only save money, but also health, because it does not require the use of aggressive chemicals.

Stages of boiling old pots

For minor stains, the pans can be cleaned with baking soda and vinegar. But if you need to wash old dishes with a large layer of smoke, dust or grease, you will have to sweat a little.
Sequencing:

  1. Soak the dishes in hot water. First add glue and soda to it. Leave the dishes in the solution for 1.5 hours, then thoroughly wash all the utensils.
  2. Place the dishes in a large saucepan, enamel bucket or tank. Fill with a hot solution of glue, soda, detergent and put on gas. Once it boils, reduce the gas and continue boiling the pots for another 2 hours.
  3. Turn off the gas and leave the dishes in the container until the water cools completely. Then wash all pots thoroughly.

Even old frying pans can be cleaned using this method. If they have plastic or wooden handles, they should be unscrewed.

Important! This method is not suitable for non-stick pans.

Soda and glue are not used for boiling surfaces with a shiny coating. This will cause them to darken irrevocably.

What you need

The hardest thing for me was finding soda ash. In stores, smiling girls offered me a variety of sprays, gels and powders, which, according to them, would clean off the oldest grease, carbon deposits and soot. But there was no soda. When I had already lost hope, I found the right remedy in a store near my house.
So, I prepared:

  • soda ash 300-400 g;
  • stationery glue 200 ml;
  • detergent;
  • large saucepan;
  • sponge

Instead of dishwashing detergent, you can add a little coarsely grated dark laundry soap to the solution. The more dishes, the larger the pan or boiling tank should be. But then the number of ingredients will have to be increased.

What to do next

First you need to prepare a solution.

All ingredients can be added immediately to a container prepared for boiling dishes in it:

  • Pour hot water into the pan. Keep in mind that the dishes will sink into the liquid and their volume will increase.
  • Add soda ash to the water.
  • Pour the glue out of the bottle.
  • Add some detergent or soap.

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and dip the dishes to be cleaned into the solution. Place the container on gas. When the water starts to boil, foam will rise. The gas should be reduced and the container covered with a lid.

Important! The solution does not contain dangerous components, but it is still better to close the door to the kitchen and open the window or turn on the hood during boiling.

The boiling time of the dishes depends on the degree of contamination. So, for all the pots it took me 60 minutes, but for the one my husband brought from the dacha it took 2.5 hours. After the time has passed, the dishes can be taken out and washed under running water. Remove the pots very carefully to avoid getting burned by the steam. Or wait until the water in the pan cools down.

Each housewife chooses the most suitable method for cleaning pots. Some do this using store-bought chemicals, others try to thoroughly wash the dishes immediately after cooking food in them, and some use their grandmother’s recipes. But remember, aggressive chemicals are difficult to wash off. To protect yourself and your family, follow all necessary measures
