Towel toys in 10 minutes: how to make a puppy and a teddy bear with your own hands
When asked to beautifully fold a towel as a gift, sellers react in the same way - they roll it up and tie it with a ribbon. While this option is more or less suitable for adults, children are unlikely to be delighted with such a gift. Another thing is a soft toy, which causes real delight in the little one.
How to roll a towel into a tube to make a cute puppy?
Probably every child dreams of receiving a puppy as a gift. But if circumstances do not allow you to have a real dog, why not please your son or daughter with an unusual toy - a puppy made from a towel? You will spend no more than 10 minutes on the job, and you can easily find all the necessary materials at home.
Before starting work, prepare:
- a terry towel of any size (the larger it is, the larger the toy will be);
- thin stationery erasers - it is desirable that their color matches the color of the towel;
- a piece of red ribbon;
- a small amount of brown, black and white felt or paper of similar colors;
- double sided tape;
- scissors.
If the selected towel has a size of 30x50, 40x70 or 50x90 cm, lay it out on the table in its full size. And if 70x140 or more, you need to first fold it in half in width.
After the preparatory part, proceed to the main work:
- Start rolling the towel into a tube on one side.When you reach the middle, stop and do the same on the other side. You should end up with two rollers of equal size. This is important: if the towel is rolled unevenly, the toy will turn out crooked.
- Bend the workpiece in half with the tubes facing outwards. From the bottom (where the ends are), measure approximately 1/3 of the height and tie the towel in this place with an elastic band.
- Turn the workpiece over so that it “stands” on the ends of the towels, and press it in the middle with the edge of your palm. You will get two halves - one of them should be separated and tied with an elastic band. This will be the puppy's face.
- Cut out long ears from brown paper or felt and slide them under the elastic at the back so that they hang freely.
- Make eyes from black and white material and attach them with double-sided tape. Cut out a small heart from brown to create a nose. He also needs to be placed on tape.
- Cut a small piece of red ribbon and insert it between the two tubes that form the muzzle - this is the tongue.
- Make a collar from the remnants of the ribbon. The figurine in the shape of a puppy is ready.
How to fold a towel into a bear shape - a quick and easy option
This teddy bear turns out to be no worse than a teddy bear. And when you get tired of playing with it, the structure can be disassembled in a matter of seconds and the towel can be used for its intended purpose.
To work you will need:
- fluffy terry towel;
- double sided tape;
- brown and white felt;
- a beautiful ribbon or brooch;
- transparent stationery erasers;
- scissors.
To make a teddy bear, fold a large bath towel in half. Small ones - for hands or face - can be left as is.
Next follow these steps:
- Fold over about 1/3 of the width of the towel.
- Roll the towel lengthwise into a tube - first on one side, then on the other. Both parts should be the same size.
- Take a closer look at the workpiece and find the place where the bend is located. These will be the bear's legs. And to make the head, take the opposite part and twist it as shown in the picture.
- Bend the twisted part in half and tie it with an elastic band slightly above the middle - you get a head and torso.
- Shape the front legs and muzzle by straightening the folds of the fabric.
- Grab some fabric from the top left and tie it with an elastic band to create an ear. Repeat the same operation on the right.
- Cut out eyes and a mouth from felt, then glue them with tape to the bear’s face.
- Decorate the toy with a ribbon bow or brooch.
How to fold towels in a closet beautifully and compactly?
The easiest way to fold towels is to fold them several times and place them in a stack in the closet. But as soon as someone pulls out the towel from below, the neat pile turns into a shapeless heap.
It is much more convenient to make sure that each towel is visible and does not take up much space:
- Take the towel by the corner and fold it diagonally.
- Fold the resulting rectangular trapezoid in half.
- Also fold the resulting rectangle in half, without touching the sharp “spout,” and then roll it into a roll.
- Bend the “spout” inward - it will not allow the towel to unfold. Such rolls can be stored compactly in a closet.
Based on the methods described and only slightly modifying them, you can make other animals. For example, a bear can easily transform into a monkey, and a dog into a rabbit. If the toy is not intended for a gift, it is worth creating it together with the children.
