Leather upholstery shines like new: I rub the furniture with cheap shaving foam, and my husband cleans car seats for it

I remember it like it is now: 5 years ago I came home tired from work. My husband and daughter, overwhelmed with happiness, take me to the kitchen. We bought a sofa! It’s beautiful, made of leather, supposedly easy to clean, because in the kitchen you can’t get it dirty with anything. I already realized then that there was nothing particularly to be happy about. Caring for leather, or rather leatherette, is complex and takes a lot of effort and time. I lived with this thought for 2 years until I discovered cleaning furniture with shaving foam.

If the leather upholstery has lost its appearance...

Scratches, shiny areas, dark spots, coffee and tea stains are just a small part of what can be found on a leather sofa after a couple of months of use.

As I was told, leather upholstery needs to be washed in a special way:

1. Do not use caustic chemicals with bleach, alkali, acid, or acetone. All kinds of brushes, scratching sponges, and powders with hard crystals are prohibited.
2. The material should only be washed with a soft cloth. It is best to use a special soap, and after washing, apply a moisturizer to the skin.

Having inquired about the price of professional products, I gasped. They counted me about 2500 rubles! Spending that amount of money on cleaning the sofa was not part of my plans.
For a long time I washed it with regular dishwashing detergent and moisturized it with hand cream or colorless shoe polish. It took a lot of time. And the consumption of cream was impressive. But then this happened.

In one of the TV shows, the presenter talked about cleaning leather products with regular shaving foam. You don't need to use anything else. It cleanses, refreshes and moisturizes the skin.

A simple way to clean leather furniture (car seats)

This is really a very simple way. It couldn't be simpler.

To clean upholstered furniture:

1. We take the cheapest shaving foam and a soft cloth.
2. Squeeze a little foam onto the sofa.
   
3. Rub into stains or the entire sofa.
4. Leave for 10-15 minutes.
   
5. Wipe off any remaining foam with a damp cloth.
   

That's it, nothing more is needed. Contaminants soften and come off easily. At the same time, part of the foam is absorbed into the upholstery and makes it soft.
The result exceeded our expectations.

My husband liked the effect on the sofa. He even bought a separate shaving foam to clean his car seats. The salon has noticeably freshened up.

About choosing shaving foam

The first time I borrowed foam from my husband. By the way, he does not use cheap products - Gillette. Although my husband grimaced, he didn’t particularly mind. He chose the sofa himself without consulting me. And I wash it day and night and put cream on it.
It seemed to me then that Gillette foam did its job perfectly. But I had nothing to compare with. Next time I decided not to dispossess my husband. I bought the cheapest foam from TM “Every Day”. It costs 50 rubles. I immediately liked that the smell was neutral and not strong. And the foam is thick and voluminous.

But the most important thing:
Cheap foam cleaned leather upholstery faster and better.

The spots began to disappear already during application. The shine is also more pronounced. And the skin also became soft. I just want to touch her.

3 remedies for difficult stains

Since the appearance of the leather sofa in our house, I have tried various folk remedies for cleaning every now and then.

But only 3 stuck with me:

• Slice of lemon. Lemon brightens and helps get rid of fruit stains, ballpoint pens, felt-tip pens. I just rub it on the spot and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then I remove the juice with a cloth soaked in warm water. And voila - not a single drawing...
• Ammonia solution. The best remedy for marker, wine, blood, tea, iodine, brilliant green and any stains in general. I dissolve in 0.5 tbsp. water 1 tbsp. a spoonful of ammonia and 0.5 teaspoons of dishwashing detergent. Then I wet a cotton pad and apply a compress to the stain. I leave it for 15 minutes. Rub lightly and rinse the upholstery with water.
• VD-40. Vedeshka helped remove dried slime from the sofa. It is also effective against grease stains, markers, pens, stickers, lipstick. You need to spray it on the dirty area and rub the stain with a dry cloth or napkin.

If cleaning with shaving foam is not enough, I “finish off” the stains with one of these products. The sofa looks amazing.

Now for me cleaning leather upholstery is not work, but pleasure! In a matter of minutes, the sofa turns from a tired old man into a young and radiant guy. Shines, shines. What else do you need for comfort?
