How and with what can you remove lipstick from white and colored clothes?
Bright, and seemingly very persistent stains from decorative cosmetics are not as scary as they seem. For example, there are dozens of ways to remove lipstick from clothing without negatively affecting the fibers of the fabric. If desired, you can even clean the surface of the white matter without leaving a trace using safe folk remedies. As with most stains, the sooner the appropriate treatment is carried out, the greater the chance of success.
At the first opportunity, a damaged product or a separate part of it should be washed with soap. If the stain has already dried, then you need to use a profile stain remover based on the type of fabric. After half an hour, the item goes into the wash; the traditional mode will be sufficient. After the object has dried, we evaluate the result and, if necessary, turn to more intense options for exposure.
Effective lipstick removers
Before you wash your lipstick using one of the traditional methods, you need to prepare the product for processing:
- Cover a hard, smooth surface with a cotton napkin or a thin towel without a pronounced relief.
- Lay out the contaminated item of clothing on the prepared cloth, turning it wrong side up. If you work with the front part, then there is a high risk of fixing the fat base in the fibers.
- We test the selected product on a hidden area of the material to make sure that it is safe.
At home, lipstick stains can be easily removed using one of the following products:
- Dishwashing gel. Apply a clean, undiluted product directly to the problem area and wait a quarter of an hour. Then take a toothbrush and very carefully scrub the surface of the fabric. Then we take napkins or cotton pads, moisten them in cold water and begin to blot the surface, removing any remaining detergent. This option is suitable for processing very bright clothes.
- Soda and lemon juice. Dilute baking soda powder with citrus juice to obtain a thick paste. We apply it to the stain and then leave it to dry. We clean off the resulting crust with a soft brush and rinse the product in cold water.
- Alcohol or refined gasoline. We moisten a piece of fabric with one of these liquids and try to rub off the stain. After using gasoline, stains may remain, so at the final stage we treat the material with a vinegar solution.
- Turpentine with ether. To remove a bright stain from the surface of a colorful item, you need to mix these components in equal proportions and apply the composition to the lipstick stain. We don’t wash the product, but simply put it in the wash after 10 minutes.
- Glycerol. We warm up the liquid product slightly and distribute it evenly over the dirt; the fabric should be well saturated. After an hour, rinse the product in water with added table salt.
To consolidate the results obtained, it is recommended to wash the treated clothing items in the traditional way after intensive cleaning. If after drying there are any traces left on the material, it is recommended to repeat the approach.
How and with what can you remove lipstick from white fabric?
To process snow-white items, it is recommended to use one of two cleaning options. Despite such a limited choice, the approaches are characterized by an increased degree of effectiveness:
- Ammonia. We moisten a cotton pad in the concentrated liquid and clean the dirt, moving towards the center from the edges. Regularly changing the tool, we continue until the formation completely disappears. The most ordinary washing will get rid of the unpleasant odor.
Tip: The same method is perfect for processing colored fabrics made from wool or silk fibers. The main thing is to reduce mechanical impact to a minimum.
- Hydrogen peroxide. The most effective method for restoring white items. Simply fill the stain with 3% peroxide and wait for the liquid to penetrate the fibers. The pigment should lighten before your eyes. Repeat until the stain disappears completely, rinse the item and dry it in the sun.
No difficulties should arise during such manipulations. If streaks or a greasy shine appears on the surface of the fabric, you need to re-wash the item with a stain remover or intensive powder.
