Do you like semi-sweet, sweet, sparkling, dry? Then you simply must make a masterpiece out of wine corks with your own hands. Boil them for 10 minutes to make them pliable. Now cut, glue, sew... What? See a selection of ideas and choose the best one.
Hot stand
This is perhaps the simplest thing you can do with your own hands. For a hot stand you will need about 10–15 wine corks. Cut them lengthwise or cut them into slices like a sausage. Now the parts need to be connected: glued together, glued to a base (for example, a piece of plywood) or punched with an awl and sewn.
Painting
If you still think that cork corks cannot decorate the interior, just look at these pictures:
Bringing ideas to life is not easy, but it is possible. You will have to press the parts carefully. You will also need a base - a large photo frame or plywood. You can use a real painting of grapes as a background. You can also make color photo printing. Or use acrylic paints to paint a bottle of wine on glued-on corks.
Panel
Make a pattern out of the corks. Glue it to the plywood. You can cover the panel with gold varnish. This decor will become the highlight of the interior.
If there are few corks and the product is planned to be large, use cutting into circles 0.3–0.5 cm thick.
Rug
Wine corks are made from the bark of the cork oak tree. The natural material is resistant to moisture, it is warm and pleasant to the touch. At least if you walk on it barefoot. That's why many people decide to make a bath mat out of corks. True, before this you will have to empty about 120 bottles of wine.
Boil the corks for 10 minutes, cut them in half lengthwise. Once dry, glue to the rubber backing. This will prevent the mat from sliding on the tiles.
Vase
Decorate an old vase with wine corks. For round-shaped vase, it is better to use thin round plates. For square - rectangular halves. Or you can make a flowerpot by simply gluing corks into rectangles and then connecting them together. Don't forget about the bottom.
Board
Does your family leave messages for each other? Writing reminders and making lists? You might be interested in cork board ideas. You can attach notes to it using a pin or button. And if you attach hooks to the board, you will get a wonderful key holder.
Frame for photos and paintings
Use wine and champagne corks to decorate a boring photo frame. Or make it from scratch using glue and a piece of thick cardboard (plywood). Complete it with beautiful buttons and twine. Combine different materials and shapes to make the frame worth looking at.
If you cook a champagne cork for 40 minutes, it will become smooth.
Watch
If strict watches are not to your taste, make cork decor. You can frame it or disassemble the watch and attach the mechanism to corks glued into a circle or square. The main thing is to make sure that the arrows move freely and do not get caught.
Kitchen apron
This is a brilliant idea for a budget kitchen makeover.It is suitable for those who are not afraid of hard work. Calculate how many corks you will need for the apron. Place them as close to each other as possible. And don't forget to leave holes for sockets.
Wreath
A cork wreath is an original decoration for the home. The corks can be glued to a base purchased at the store. Or make it yourself by rolling newspapers into a “sausage” and covering it with tape. You can also make a wreath using wire - place the corks on it while they are still wet. Complete the wreath with artificial grapes, berries, cones, ribbons - whatever you see fit.
Interesting decor
You can make a lot of original crafts and home decorations from wine corks:
- initials or inscription;
- decor of candlesticks;
- houses;
- box for storing small items.
Cork decor is in harmony with the ethnic and eco-style of the interior. Similar products are sold in stores. You can also make your own decoration. Wine corks, glue and a piece of plywood are all you need!
