Preparedness number one: where to start?

There are 5 important nuances in preparing the main symbol of Easter:

  1. You can't boil cold eggs. A sudden change in temperature can lead to damage to the integrity of the shell. Therefore, an hour before cooking, remove the eggs from the refrigerator and leave them on the table at room temperature. Another option is to put it in warm (not hot!) water.
  2. Salt the water in which the eggs will be boiled at the rate of 1 tablespoon of salt per 1.5–2 liters of water. Salt will strengthen the shell, and will also prevent the protein from leaking to the surface in case of “breakdowns”.
  3. Wash each egg thoroughly in advance with soap, baking soda, or even better, wipe with a cloth soaked in alcohol or vinegar. This will degrease the surface of the shell, and the paint will be distributed more evenly over the surface.
  4. Add 9% table vinegar to the coloring solution (about 1 tablespoon per 1.5 liters of water). The vinegar will fix the pigment to the shell and the color will last longer.
  5. To give the paints a festive look, you can rub them after dyeing and drying with a cloth soaked in vegetable oil.

If you are a perfectionist and don’t want to see a spot of paint in the place where the egg came into contact with the bottom of the container, you can build a simple device: stick a few pins into a plasticine “cake” or a piece of sponge the size of the bottom so that their points point upward. Place on the bottom of the container with the coloring solution. On such a stand, thanks to the minimal support area, the eggs will color perfectly evenly. It is advisable to dry the paint on the same “platform”.
