Magic, no less. How to thread a needle in 1 second

Every person has had to thread a needle at least once. At school, during labor, we were taught that we need to use a white background if the thread is black, and a dark background if it is white. On it you can clearly see the eye of the needle and get a contrasting thread into it. In this case, the fluffy edge must be trimmed with sharply sharpened scissors. For a long time, Trudovik’s advice helped me solve this simple problem. But over the years, my eyesight became weaker, and I began to use a life hack that my niece showed me.

Threading a needle

Magic: the thread itself fits into the eye of the needle

When you’ve been tirelessly poking the end of a thread into a needle for several minutes, and it all shrinks and flakes, slips out of your hands, it begins to irritate.

One winter day, my niece came to visit me. At night the first fluffy and thick snow fell, and the kids went sledding, tubing, plates, and everything they had. And somehow it happened that my niece tore his pants. The hill is very close to my house, so she turned to me for help. The hole was solid.

Needle with thread

It’s a shame for a growing girl to walk through the streets with something like this. Without thinking twice, I made Lizaveta some tea, put out some cookies, and sat down to sew. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to thread the needle. I already took a white sheet of paper and cut off the fluffy tip 10 times. Unsuccessfully. And then my nephew says that you are suffering so much. See how you can thread a needle in a second. And then magic happened.

The niece put the thread on her palm, rubbed the needle on it, and in a moment it was in her ear. It seemed to me that she did it without even looking. Curiosity was simply bursting, and I asked to show her trick again, but slowly.

Palm with thread and needle

I'll tell you in detail:

  1. The thread unwinds 10 centimeters.
  2. Place it on your palm and squeeze it with your thumb. It should lie flat, but without tension.
  3. The needle is taken in the other hand and the eye is applied to the thread.
  4. A few movements of the eye along the thread, and a loop appears inside it.
  5. All you have to do is pull the loop with your fingers, and voila, you can sew.

The thread will fit into the eye of the needle on its own.

Disadvantage of this method

I'll tell the truth - when I tried to repeat the trick, it didn't work. I made several attempts. It happened about the tenth time. The secret of the method is in light and smooth pressure, rather than rapid friction. Also, your hands must be dry, and you need to apply the needle to the thread on the hard part of your palm, near your fingers. Now about the disadvantage of this method:

It only works with large eye needles.

It is useless to practice with an embroidery needle. I spent a lot of time, and the result is zero. In addition, I noticed that the trick works better with cotton threads, and polyester ones are too slippery for it.

Other easy ways to thread a needle

If the eye on the needle is very small, then I use other tricks:

  • Dry soap. I rub the end of the thread with soap and roll it between my fingers. The tip becomes sharp and hard. It no longer fluffs up or squirms, and is easily threaded into a needle.Needle and thread and soap
  • Paraffin, PVA glue. Instead of soap, you can lubricate the tip with a small drop of glue or dip it in melted candle wax. This is for very fluffy threads.Paraffin for threads
  • Fishing line. When I need to use a thick thread for sewing, which is difficult to fit into the eye of a needle, I take a thin beading line. I fold it in half around a thick thread and pull it through the needle with the ends first. I pull the line out completely. A thick thread enters the eyelet. After this, the fishing line can be removed.Bead line

The “magical” way of threading a needle was a revelation for me. Now I use it whenever I need to mend or hem something. There is nothing complicated about it, you just need to practice a little. After this, you will no longer need to look closely, fuss and cut the ends of the thread. My weakened nerves and eyes said “thank you.” The only thing was that I had to switch to needles with large eyes. They also come in thin, medium and thick. Can be selected for fabric of any thickness. So I recommend this method to everyone.
